I grew up on the Atlantic facade, close to the very last city liberated in France from the World War II German occupation, Saint Nazaire. After being certified as a National Tour Guide, I flew around the globe from my hometown to the US (Maryland), but also London and the African continent, to meet different people and their cultures. Finally, I settled in Normandy, where I became a professional Tour Guide a decade ago. Being passionate about History, I'm glad to help all visitors from around the world discover the heritage of the beautiful region of Normandy. My professional experience and personal research provide me knowledge that I love to share with you from global History to individual anecdotes. In 2022, I created « Trésors d'Histoire », a collection of books to offer readers the possibility to explore, on their own, the historical sites interactively. Come with me and discover the amazing history right under our feet, from the Middle Ages to the exceptional D-day landing operation and the battle of Normandy. During your journey, you may stopover in our beautiful regions of Le Havre or Honfleur. Would you like to visit the area with a local guide and have a memorable experience? Then this tour is for you. Book an excursion with me to discover part of our rich heritage: the Second World War Landing beaches. Let's see what the American soldiers had to face of and where some brave men were put to rest forever. The Normandy heritage is full of treasures to discover, such as the cemetery of Colleville-sur-Mer, a magnificent site of remembrance and meditation overlooking Omaha Beach, or the unbelievable operation of the Amaerican Rangers. We'll also be visiting Bayeux, a city with a medieval past. Trust a published author of History books such as myself to help you go beyond what meets the eye!
•We'll begin with a morning pickup to then drive for around an hour and a half to the D-Day sites. •On our way there, I'll have time to put the Overlord Operation into a global WW2 perspective for you, explaining the main reasons for the importance of the D-Day, as well as why the Allies picked Normandy as a position to start the attack. •Next, we'll reach Battery of « Pointe du Hoc », of the Rangers' attack on the cliffs. •Afterwards, we'll visit Omaha Beach, the site of D-Day's bloodiest battle. •We'll then have lunch nearby Omaha Beach. •Later, we'll visit the US cemetery of Colleville-sur-Mer, the largest allies military cemetery in Normandy. •Next, we could either visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral of Bayeux or do a walking tour of the city centre (which would also depend on the time we had left after our visits). This is the perfect place to discuss the epic story of William The Conqueror (first Norman King of England). •At last, we'd return to where we started.
