Francois was excellent, and the people that I booked for a shore excursion couldn’t say enough good things about him! They said the experience was unforgettable. I think that says it all. Merci, Francois!

Bonjour, my name is Francois. I was born and raised in Caen, the capital of lower Normandy. I also lived 17 years in England : London, west yorkshire and for 12 years I was literally "sent to Coventry", a town in the midlands, working for the city council. It is during my time there where I learnt English. All my family is from Normandy and were in the Caen area during the two and half months in 1944 we now call "The battle of Normandy". I grew up learning from a generation who survived those events and understood the impact it had on their lives. I vividly remember as a kid at family gathering, listening for hours to my grandparents, uncles and aunties talking about the German occupation, the bombings, the suffering, the liberation and newly restored freedom. I also have a Spanish Grandfather who was a republican and played his part by fighting the Germans in the Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939. He ended up as a refugee in France and was eventually taken prisoner by the Germans, being one of the slave laborers building the now famous, or should I say infamous "Atlantic wall". I'm very passionate about my work and I have always been fascinated by history and more particularly WW2 and the battle of Normandy. As a young man, I was always interested in the military aspect of history, but getting older and more mature I'm now much more interested in the personal experiences of the soldiers and civilians. A personal memoir tells you so much more than a military history about what people endured. Professional baccalaureate in forestry business. D-day beaches tour guide, 7 years for Normandy Sightseeing tours company. Menber of Normandy Battlefield Tour Guide Association. Registered in France as Guide accompagnateur. VTC owner. (carte professionnelle de conducteur de voiture de transport avec chauffeur). I'm a licensed D-day beaches Guide. I also own a license to transport people wherever they want BUT I'm not a licensed Guide to guide inside the abbey of Mont Saint Michel or any National monuments.

It takes 1h30 driving from Le Havre/Honfleur to the US sector of Omaha. On the way to get there we'll stop to Bayeux. D-day, June 6th is just the first day of what it is called the battle of Normandy, which lasted until end of August and Bayeux was the only city intact in the region. We'll walk in the streets and you we'll see the buldings are mainly from 17\18 centuries with also medieval houses from 14\15 centuries. You'll visit the cathedral from 11th century built in 1077. Next, we'll drive to la pointe du Hoc one of the most famous D-day Normandy sites. You'll hear how the rangers scaled the cliffs to destroy the cannons that could fire on Utah and Omaha beaches. We'll lead on to Omaha where the 1st & 29th US Div landed. You'll see and visit German defences and bunkers part of the Atlantic wall. We'll have lunch at "LA Sapinière" restaurant where you can taste the cider made locally. Finally we'll go to the stunning and moving American cemetery where over 9000 battle of Normandy victims lay to rest.

Francois is an incredible guide with a wealth of knowledge of D - Day and the events leading to that historic day We appreciated his enthusiasm and his love of Normandy. The tour had a nice pace with stops in Bayueax and a lovely restaurant for lunch. Francois visual aids helped with understanding the terrain We especially appreciated him giving us some personal time to walk the cemetery and beaches to reflect on what we learned. He truly is an excellent guide
Our group of seven adults had the best day with Francois. He packed in as much as he could with US D-Day sites explaining each in great detail. His enthusiasm for the history of the Normandy area and that part of WWII was impressive. Plus he was very accommodating to my ever changing meeting and ending points as our river cruise had to change our docking port. I would highly recommend Francois.
Highly recommend this tour. We had an absolutely fabulous time!François was a fantastic guide. He is very passionate about this topic and we learned so much. You definitely won’t be disappointed. Also important was that he was a great driver and we felt very safe.
I would give François 20 stars if I could. His knowledge of WWII is amazing and he could almost make us feel what it was like to be there. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who wants a comprehensive tour of the D-Day beaches.
Francois did a fantastic job taking us to the city of Bayeux and the US sector of Omaha! He was very knowledgeable and did a wonderful job explaining, in great detail, everything about the invasion of Normandy by the Allied troops! We really enjoyed our day and would highly recommend him!
