Tour Guide for now nine wonderful years, I am a very positive and ongoing person. It is really hard to get away the smile from my face ;o) When I decided to get my guiding license, more than 9 years ago now, I thought first, that it could be a summer job while on holiday from teaching, but I quickly realized what a great job guiding can be. I use to say, that now, my students are older than before, and are now really very interested in what they want me to speak about. Even better. I started doing tours for friends from California, years ago, then friends of their friends, and I now take people on my tours who become friends ;o) I live in in Normandy, where I was born, but I also lived in Paris, in the US , and in some other countries. That gives me the ability to understand other cultures and to adapt myself. Yet, Paradise is for me "here" in the green pastures of Normandy. Both my grandparents lived through the German occupation, and both were in the French Resistance. I have a very strong connection to my region. That really started my passion for digging in the past. After an education in Normandy, I went studying History and Journalism in Paris at the Sorbonne. As a real History buff, I have created some unique itineraries no one else did before me, like the real Viking tour on the footsteps of the Vikings of Normandy. I try as much as possible to do things the best I can. I am a perfectionist, and I assume. I am married and have two lovely daughters. Besides my family and my job, I love horses. To be honest, the more I get old, the more I think that I don't belong to the XXI th Century, but to the Middle Ages. Yes, I love this part of our history! On this full day tour from Caen or Bayeux, you'll spend a day with the knights and dukes of Normandy. From their Viking humble roots to a kingdom stretching from the south of Europe to the borders of Scotland, you'll discover how the Normans established a true European empire. In Caen and Crèvecœur, you'll visit their castles, see how they lived, fought, and ruled. In Falaise, the dukes of Normandy will tell you their story. You'll read the poems they wrote, listen to their songs, and even try the food they liked. You can't really understand the Bayeux Tapestry unless you went through a real history course. I will do that with a fun, quick and interactive time just before you go see this unique piece of art. History, to me, is much more than books. I want you to live History, so that later you are able to understand, and live better your present.
Igor was a terrific tour guide. He is also quite knowledgeable and personable. Igor was great at simplifying complex historical events for my daughters who knew little about the time period. And yet he was able to engage in more in depth discussions with me. In particular, we loved the trip to the castle at Falaise and the visit to the Viking village.
This was another excellent tour. All our tours of Normandy were excellent and well worth the wait, having been postponed for three years as a result of Covid travel restrictions. Igor is a very informative guide, and we are very grateful that we were able to secure his services for five tours.
Our tour included the Falaise castle, the Bayeux Tapestry and the Caen castle. We also customized the tour with a visit to the birth village of our immigrant ancestor. Igor uses these sites to link together the story of William the Conqueror and his successors, and he provides many details about the events from the period. We enjoyed our time with Igor and would recommend him to anyone with an interest in the history of Normandie.
Igor provided my wife and I with an once-in-a-lifetime fantastic tour or Medieval Normandy. His grasp of the history of the region is impressive, and he answered all of my questions, including many on the era of William the Conquer and the first Normans/Vikings. I highly recommend this tour.

Igor was knowledgeable and very flexible. He was able to adjust the tour based on the fact we had been in Normandy for two days and had seen many of the sites.
