Tour Guide for now nine wonderful years, I am a very positive and ongoing person. It is really hard to get away the smile from my face ;o) When I decided to get my guiding license, more than 9 years ago now, I thought first, that it could be a summer job while on holiday from teaching, but I quickly realized what a great job guiding can be. I use to say, that now, my students are older than before, and are now really very interested in what they want me to speak about. Even better. I started doing tours for friends from California, years ago, then friends of their friends, and I now take people on my tours who become friends ;o) I live in in Normandy, where I was born, but I also lived in Paris, in the US , and in some other countries. That gives me the ability to understand other cultures and to adapt myself. Yet, Paradise is for me "here" in the green pastures of Normandy. Both my grandparents lived through the German occupation, and both were in the French Resistance. I have a very strong connection to my region. That really started my passion for digging in the past. After an education in Normandy, I went studying History and Journalism in Paris at the Sorbonne. As a real History buff, I have created some unique itineraries no one else did before me, like the real Viking tour on the footsteps of the Vikings of Normandy. I try as much as possible to do things the best I can. I am a perfectionist, and I assume. I am married and have two lovely daughters. Besides my family and my job, I love horses. Yes, I must admit it I love good food. When I am not busy doing or preparing tours, I cook. For my family, friends and even myself. I really love it. Normandy is an amazing Foodie paradise. In this full day tour you'll taste the best french cheese, Camembert of course but not only, try our delicious hard cider and Calvados, Normandy's liquid gold. You'll meet my friend, Jérome, Pont L'Evèque best cheese producer, and chairman of the Pont L'Evèque AOC board. You'll learn everything about Camembert in Camembert village, and about french cheese. Driving and walking through the most lovely villages of the Pays d'Auge, you'll understand with me that our cheeses and drinks can be made nowhere else, and enjoyed at their best right here. This is a tour for the Slow Food concerned, and for anyone looking for authentic quality products. You'll have a Gourmet lunch in a Michelin rated restaurant by the river, admiring the lovely Normandy cows. At the end of the day, the Calvados will have no more secrets for you.
Excellent tour. Igor was extremely knowledgeable on the area and it was such an interesting and enjoyable day. We covered so much without being rushed and there were so many highlights. From excellent tastings, a delicious lunch and great locations it was exactly what we wanted on a gourmet Normandie tour. Car was also very comfortable.
This was a very enjoyable day out and we particularly enjoyed the Camembert Factory tour.
Igor's range and depth of knowledge was impressive. He smoothed our way at every stop and allowed us to experience the region from the point of view someone who lives there. A most enjoyable day.
My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our full day private gourmet tour with Igor! Perfect day full of food and beautiful countryside views. Igor was extremely knowledgeable on all the subject matters we visited and clearly has a passion for them. He was a good conversationalist and also asked us our interests. He went out of his way to accommodate extra custom stops on the tour for our interests too. The transportation was very comfortable and clean. HIGHLY recommend this tour!!!
We had a wonderful day with Igor, he is very well versed, courteous, friendly and a huge food connoisseur. He made reservations at a 1 star Michelin restaurant, the food was exceptional. We highly recommend this tour.
Great foodie day. Igor was mislead by the Camembert Museum but he quickly subbed a cheese tour in Livarot which was terrific. And lunch at Moulin du Fossard....so fine. We spent two great days with Igor and thoroughly enjoyed them. Especially since it didn't rain!
-Caen/Bayeux 9AM -Stop in Camembert. Visit of the House & Museum of Camembert and of the Beaumoncel Cheese Dairy in Camembert. -Quick stop at Orbec Ferme du Bec d'Or. Gourmet products selection. -Stop in Lisieux if time allows and visit of the Basilica of Lisieux. - Lunch at The "Fossard" 12. 30AM - Best restaurant of the Pays d'Auge. -Stop at the Breuil en Auge Chateau and Distillery. Visit of the distillery - Tastings. -Stop in Trouville - Visit of the seafood market. -Stop in Honfleur - Visit of the village. Explanation of the architecture and history of the village.
