My name is Sophie and I was born in the city of Caen, located in the beautiful region of Normandy, France. Ever since I came back from the United States in 2012, where I lived for twelve years, I have had the exciting opportunity to become a Tour guide in my natal Norman area. I am always enthused to share with all my travelers the history and heritage, as well as the art, folklore and gastronomy of Normandy and France. My new profession here in France has given me the opportunity to pursue one of my life passions, which is to work with the public. Part of my professional experience includes working as a teacher in the field of early childhood in the United States. The eleven years that I spent exercising this profession gave me the opportunity to work with people from different walks of life. The diversity in people is a trait that I most treasure about humanity. I strongly believe that everyone has something to contribute to society as a whole, and I appreciate and embrace different perspectives of life. Within the realm of my professional experience, I can also include Theatre. This fine art is one of my most treasured passions in life as well. After graduation, I began working as an intern with Teatro di Rifredi, a theatre company in Italy as a cultural attaché. Overall, my professional theatrical background encompasses over ten years of experience from age thirteen, through graduation and includes working in various positions acting in plays with several companies. I am very happy to combine this involvement in the Arts with the hospitality field where I now work, and I have incorporated Tours that include plays and other theatrical exhibits and pieces. My ultimate goal is to provide unique experiences to guests in my guided tours. As demonstrated throughout my labor, I feel that my experience and appreciated fascination for the areas involving guiding (again, history, art and languages/regional tradition) allow me to add a unique touch to the experiences I provide and customize to my visitors for a more personal touch in each and every one of them, making each one special. - Bachelor Guide Conférencier/Licensed Tour Guide - Early Childhood Education License - Bachelor Arts, Theatre studies - VTC/Driver Guide None

On June 6, the Overlord Operation occured in the Normandy region, This historical event encompasses five different sectors. These areas of interest extend from the department of Manche, to the department of Calvados, for a total of 50 miles/80 kilometers, bordered by the English channel. You will have the opportunity to see, learn and understand the different areas where the American Allies landed on the first hours of D-Day during WW II. Since my childhood, I have been able to learn about all the landing sectors as my close family and myself are natives to the area. On D-Day Anniversary, I used to participate on the observed commemorations and, because our family home is located on Gold Beach, we always appreciated welcoming all WWII veterans. My goal is to make your journey special, the same way I experienced it!

I feel like 5 stars isn't enough to rate how wonderful this tour was. Sophie came and picked us up (there were 4 of us) in a very big and comfortable car, and immediately started filling us in about what we were going to see that day. Her knowledge and expertise about the history of not only what happened on D-Day, but of the Great War, World War ll, the surrounding villages, you name it! And she explained everything to us in a way that really made us feel like we were witnessing what happened on that day, not just hearing about it. I feel so fortunate that Sophie was our tour guide. She's smart, very personable, speaks perfect English, and having been raised in Normandy she certainly understands the intensity of what happened on June 6, 1944 and all the subsequent developments resulting from this day. The four of us were just so impressed by the breadth of her knowledge about everything that we visited: the layout of the bunkers, the construction of the Mulberry Harbors, the weather conditions, the layout of the magnificent American Cemetery, how Sainte-Mère-Église was liberated, what the Vikings did in Normandy, the famous ciders of Normandy, and where to get the best cookies and flan! (She actually took us the bakery and she was right! The flan was delicious, and the cookies were like nothing we could ever buy in the US.) Sophie was so flexible too, willing to veer off into any other subject we were interested in, even offering to change the tour if there were other things we wanted to see or do. This was not necessary, Sophie's agenda was perfect. We never felt rushed, nor did we feel that we spent too much time anywhere. It was a nine hour tour but it never seemed like it. Sophie just has a gift for story-telling, and so the time just flew by. We stopped for lunch at a very charming restaurant, the food was good and we all enjoyed just sitting down and chatting with each other. On our way back to Bayeux, she even dropped 1/2 of our group off at the E. Leclerc in town, because she felt that it was just so far superior to the other market in town! She just wanted to make sure that we had access to the best choices available! We had never even heard of E. Leclerc, but were so impressed that we always looked for one in the other towns we visited. Like I said, Sophie was just great, and we all felt that we had hit the jackpot with her. I can't say enough about the wonderful day she gave us, sharing her incredible knowledge with us, with patience, energy, wit, and generosity. Thank you Sophie for spending your Friday with us! We are so grateful!!
Sophie was great! She is a teacher with a passion for telling others the story of her native Normandy. She has a deep respect for the sacrifices made during WWII. She was well-prepared with visual aides which helped to enliven the stories she told at each location. She also gave our kids a workbook to keep them engaged during the trip. She was so nice and accommodating from start to finish.
Sophie is amazing! She is so knowledgeable and helpful. She tailored a tour for us and was so nice and so respectful. She really knows the history of the area and added so much to our experience. Truly amazing!!
Absolutely incredible tour, Sophie did an amazing job bringing to life a battle that changed the direction of the world. She brought together the tactics, the local emotions and the physical realities of the area into an incredible tour. In addition Sophie took us to other areas that complemented our main event. An incredible out of the way place to eat and a small village. She is a delight to spend time with and her engaging personality made the day so enjoyable!
Really enjoyed our tour with Sophie. She was extremely knowledgeable about the sites and their history, along with French culture and economy as well. She also maximized our tour by structuring it so that we could see everything in just one day.
• I will take you to Sainte-Mère-Église, which is a typical Norman little town where our American Allies from the 82nd Airborne Division landed on June 6, 1944. This is also the town where you will be able to find home-made specialty cookies with pure butter and eggs ! • We will go to the country side of Normandy, along the peninsula at Utah Beach, where you will experience the sea close by. Then, Sainte-Marie-du-Mont with its picturesque church, Angoville-au-Plain, village will be on our way and I will tell you what happened there. • Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a luscious lunch at a local restaurant in Grandcamp-Maisy, a small harbor town. At this location, the fresh catch of the day seafood is creatively served. • You will visit Pointe du Hoc where the American Rangers landed too and you will experience the Atlantic wall. • I will take you to Omaha Beach and, finally, you will visit the American cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, a touching moving experience.
