My name is Katja, I am a licensed tour guide and dedicated travel specialist with 18 years of industry expertise and three master's degrees. Born and raised in Split, I studied in Croatia and Austria and traveled throughout Europe in my twenties. I have gained expertise in intercultural communication, arts and history. I know what makes a tour memorable: an in-depth knowledge of a highly educated guide; an intimate, flexible approach that focuses entirely on your preferences; and a relaxed, personalized pace that includes access to some cute hidden gems. Whether you want an island escape, a cultural deep dive, or a scenic nature adventure, I pride myself on my attention to detail, flexibility, and high level of service. I ensure that everyone in the group feels valued and fully immersed in the experience. What sets me apart? The unique blend of skills and experiences I bring to every journey. Beyond guiding, I have a decade of experience as a schoolteacher, giving me a natural ability to connect with children and create educational and fun experiences for families. I know how to adapt tours for different age groups, keeping younger travelers curious and engaged while allowing parents and grandparents to relax and enjoy themselves. As a published author, I offer a deeper, more meaningful perspective on Croatia’s cultural heritage and political background. I bring stories to life, connect historical narratives with contemporary changes, and provide unique insights into local settings. This combination of expertise and sensibility ensures that my tours are transdisciplinary, dynamic and inspiring. Whether traveling with children or seeking a richer cultural experience, my guests enjoy a truly one-of-a-kind journey. As a passionate equestrian and dog lover, I am happy to say that pets are welcome on all my walking tours, so you can enjoy the tour with your beloved animal companions. I can also adapt all my tours to accommodate guests with walking disabilities, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone. If you have already visited the old town of Split, Varoš and Marjan hill are the second best area to discover! Let’s get lost in the warren of narrow streets and discover seculded little chapels and charming courtyards. Originally home of city’s fishermen, with some of the houses dating back to the 15th century, the area mostly develped after the end of the Ottoman wars. This most authentic part of old Split offers a captivating atmosphere with many little wonders to discover. As we walk cobbled streets and twisting alleyways lined with wonderful stone houses, you will notice that streets go progressively uphill. This is because Varoš begins at the foot of Marjan Hill, beautiful green forest with stunning hermitages, chapels, breathtaking seaview and newly opened botanical garden. After visiting crowded city center of Split plunge into this Mediterranean forest bathing tour that will activate all your senses and hormones of joy!
We start from St. Francis church at Riva waterfront of Split. Here are our stops: - Šperun square and birth house of famous Croatian painter Emanuel Vidović - Varoš neighbourhood area - chapel of St. Cross from 17th century - famous mural of contemporary artist Andrea Resner - Marjan hill viewpoint - chapel of St. Nicholas from 13th century - botanical garden of Split - Telegrin peak of Marjan hill - old medieval houses on Marjan (dry wall buliding method) - breathtaking hermitrage of St. Jerome (famous wedding location) from 15th century - charming Bene beach near the ruines of St. Benedict chapel form the 11th century Upon request this tour can include swimming break & snack in the end. Return from Marjan hill back to the old town is organized by a little open train, since both Marjan forest and Varoš neighbourhood are no traffic zones of Split.
