My name is Katja, I am a licensed tour guide and dedicated travel specialist with 18 years of industry expertise and three master's degrees. Born and raised in Split, I studied in Croatia and Austria and traveled throughout Europe in my twenties. I have gained expertise in intercultural communication, arts and history. I know what makes a tour memorable: an in-depth knowledge of a highly educated guide; an intimate, flexible approach that focuses entirely on your preferences; and a relaxed, personalized pace that includes access to some cute hidden gems. Whether you want an island escape, a cultural deep dive, or a scenic nature adventure, I pride myself on my attention to detail, flexibility, and high level of service. I ensure that everyone in the group feels valued and fully immersed in the experience. What sets me apart? The unique blend of skills and experiences I bring to every journey. Beyond guiding, I have a decade of experience as a schoolteacher, giving me a natural ability to connect with children and create educational and fun experiences for families. I know how to adapt tours for different age groups, keeping younger travelers curious and engaged while allowing parents and grandparents to relax and enjoy themselves. As a published author, I offer a deeper, more meaningful perspective on Croatia’s cultural heritage and political background. I bring stories to life, connect historical narratives with contemporary changes, and provide unique insights into local settings. This combination of expertise and sensibility ensures that my tours are transdisciplinary, dynamic and inspiring. Whether traveling with children or seeking a richer cultural experience, my guests enjoy a truly one-of-a-kind journey. As a passionate equestrian and dog lover, I am happy to say that pets are welcome on all my walking tours, so you can enjoy the tour with your beloved animal companions. I can also adapt all my tours to accommodate guests with walking disabilities, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone. Why should you choose me as your private guide?  certified by the Croatian Ministry of Tourism since 2009  three university degrees (MA)  specialized course in "Wine and Food Pairing" from Craft College Zagreb 2025  highest fluency in English and German (both C2 level)  comfortable, air-conditioned vehicles with licensed private chauffeurs  family-friendly experiences for travelers with children  in-depth knowledge and access to iconic highlights and hidden gems  warm and personable guiding style with touches of humor and wit  seamless organization and attention to detail  flexible and attentive approach My recommendations for soulful experiences in Dalmatia (some are available within my published tours; other I offer as part of my customized tours): • discovering the captivating Roman substructures of Diocletian’s Palace • enjoying the breathtaking art garden at Meštrović Villa in Split • savoring the architecture and tastes of Hvar Island • village hopping and lamb specialties on Brač Island • exploring the ruins of Salonae near Split, the third-biggest city of the Roman Empire • soaking up the scents and colors of the Krka River by foot, by bike, or by private boat • hands-on experience making the UNESCO-listed "soparnik" dish in Gata village • enchanting photo tour through the picturesque streets of Trogir • wine tastings at family-owned wineries in Split area • rafting adventure in the lush Cetina River • the "million-dollar view" from Klis Fortress • spiritual grounding in the Vranjača Cave • forest bathing on Marjan Hill in Split I can't wait to show you some of these highlights! Overview of your Split tour

Why is Trogir often called "little Venice" and what makes this small town one of the most visited UNESCO sites in Croatia? As we walk the streets dating back to the Hellenistic period, you will realize how remarkable the urban continuity of this place is. Beautiful Romanesque churches, Renaissance and Baroque buildings, as well as impressive fortifications from the Venetian times - centuries will simply roll under your feet and in front of your eyes! After Trogir, we will continue with the Roman heritage of my hometown Split, most famous for the Diocletian's Palace (305 AD), the so called "Palace of Sun". Did you know that the Roman architects projected the palace calculating the movement of the Sun in relation to the latitude of Split? It is actually the light that makes this antique building so impressive - so choose the day's time of your tour wisely :)

We had a fantastic time with Katja. She is so knowledgeable and intelligent and she really helped us to understand the history of the region. We got a crash course in history and learned a lot. Katja also showed us additional things, such as specialties from the region. She also was extra kind and helpful, going above and beyond. She made reservations for us at a restaurant and she also even took an elderly member of our party back to our ship on a taxi, which was extremely helpful and not at all part of the tour. We highly recommend her and only wish we could have had more hours with her!
