Some cities show you history. Here, you literally walk through it. I was born and raised in Trogir, so for me these are not just UNESCO sites. They are part of my everyday life. I grew up running through these stone streets, probably when I was not supposed to. And even now, they still surprise me. The Greeks arrived and thought, yes, we will stay. The Romans built a palace. The Venetians added elegance. Every century left a little layer of drama, beauty and ambition, and somehow it all blends perfectly. Split is vibrant and full of life, growing inside Diocletian’s Palace. Imagine building your city inside a Roman emperor’s retirement home. Trogir is more intimate, romantic and refined, a tiny stone island with corners I have known since childhood. This is not a lecture. It is a story.
Had an awesome tour with Sylvio of Split and Trogir. He was right on time - picked me up from my airbnb and we first went to Trogir. Its such a beautiful place - quite a bit different from Split. Sylvio is extremely knowledgeable and provided a lot of details. Next we went to Split and he showed me stuff I had missed the previous day followed by a fabulous lunch at an authentic Croatian restaurant . Overall had a great time and I highly recommend the tour and Sylvio.
Silvio was so personable. He shared his knowledge and love of his hometown and country. He brought the history to life. He was very organized, and communication was great. We were very prepared. He shared with us things we would have never found without his guidance. We are already planning a return trip and we will have Silvio help us plan it! He is a great tour guide! I highly recommend!
Silvio did a great job of showing us Trogir and Diocletian's Palace in Split. He provided historical context to the various sights with humor and insight. It was the perfect way to begin our visit. I can't recommend Silvio more highly!
