My name is Jhon, I was born and grown up in a small town named Buenavista, in Cordoba department that is located in the Caribbean region. My father and mother took care of me until I was 15 years old. Then, I moved to Cartagena to finish my secondary, after graduating I was enlisted in the army when I was 19 years old, at present I am 59. My family is big, I have eight brothers and two sisters, and we are all a live, I am very happy and give thanks my parents for everything they did for us, and God for his blessing. After leaving for the army, I started working for an industrial company for 15 years, after I stop working in there, and studied tourism and I graduated as a professional tour guide. Today, I am 17 years of experiences as a local guide and national guide, since Cartagena is a privileged city of Colombia as a cruise ship destination, I enjoy leading travelers when they arrive in each season in my city. This is the job I was searching for my life and now, it became true. I love Cartagena de Indias, it is my best city, its charms are magical, with its colonial houses, streets, walls, history, myths and legends but its friendly and nice people are spectacular sharing their culture with guests. As a local guide, I love so much this career, I have a lot experiences and knowledge of this activity, my attitude and my entire availability are parts of my job, I work with great enthusiasm, I always enjoy giving to my visitors the best of me when I lead them in my enchanting and magical city, I am well known as a local guide. It was an excellent tour. I was travelling with a varied group of age 17 - 90. The van was air conditioned, roomy and comfortable. The carriage ride was great, we were escorted so traffic was not a problem. It was a great way to see the city without having to walk for my older companions. Jhon stopped at a place close to St Peter Claver church, dining and shopping so we could do the maximum but limiting our time walking. The day exceeded my expectations.
Jhon and his wife provided a wonderful day for our group. He hired a great bus driver and a very nice bus for our trip through the crazy traffic in Cartagena. He escorted us on a relaxing, informative and beautiful carriage tour of the old city. It is obvious that he loves his job and his city. His insights into history and his knowledge of Cartagena are exceptional. I would recommend Jhon Elias R to anyone visiting Colombia.
Jhon was a great guide. The horse drawn carriage was entertaining and his commentary was excellent. He did whatever we asked and did it well.
Jhon was fantastic. The horse and carriage ride through the colonial area was spectacular. He went above and beyond, with escorts taking us where other tours couldnt go. There were certain things we wanted to do that deviated from the laid out tour and he happily made it happen. He was knowledgeable and interesting, and had a great sense of humor. I can't say enough. I wish I could find a Jhon every where I went for my tours. Also, Tours By Locals is wonderful. I use them whenever I can. THANKS JHON!
Everything about this tour was fantastic. The tour guide was the best guide we have ever had on any tour and we travel a lot. He was exceptional in his knowledge and history. And in addition he was extremely wonderful with our son who is disabled. The van driver was also fantastic as was our carriage driver. I cannot say enough kind words about our guide. We highly recommend!
Pick up and drop off at the cruise ship terminal, hotel, airport, building. Transfer from the the port to the walled city by private vehicle or Van with full air conditioning to board th electric cars. Photo stop at the San Felipe fortress(15 min). Stop at the Marina park and historic corridor to board the electric cars. Stroll in the old city through the main streets, squares and monuments enjoying colonial architecture. ( 1 hour). Stops for photos at the main tourist attractions. Final stop at the Bovedas square (30 min) optional break for shopping. Stop at Juan Valdez coffee shop and free tasting of colombian coffee. Return to the cruise ship terminal.
