My name is Jhon, I was born and grown up in a small town named Buenavista, in Cordoba department that is located in the Caribbean region. My father and mother took care of me until I was 15 years old. Then, I moved to Cartagena to finish my secondary, after graduating I was enlisted in the army when I was 19 years old, at present I am 59. My family is big, I have eight brothers and two sisters, and we are all a live, I am very happy and give thanks my parents for everything they did for us, and God for his blessing. After leaving for the army, I started working for an industrial company for 15 years, after I stop working in there, and studied tourism and I graduated as a professional tour guide. Today, I am 17 years of experiences as a local guide and national guide, since Cartagena is a privileged city of Colombia as a cruise ship destination, I enjoy leading travelers when they arrive in each season in my city. This is the job I was searching for my life and now, it became true. I love Cartagena de Indias, it is my best city, its charms are magical, with its colonial houses, streets, walls, history, myths and legends but its friendly and nice people are spectacular sharing their culture with guests. As a local guide, I love so much this career, I have a lot experiences and knowledge of this activity, my attitude and my entire availability are parts of my job, I work with great enthusiasm, I always enjoy giving to my visitors the best of me when I lead them in my enchanting and magical city, I am well known as a local guide. Cartagena de Indias was founded on June 1st in 1533, by the Spanish consquistador Don Pedro Heredia. Since the sixteenth Century, Cartagena de Indias has been one of the most important ports of this hemisphere. It was de Center of a stockpile of emeralds, pearls, gold, silver and old sorts of merchandise coming from South America and shipped to Europe. Coveted and besieged by corsairs and pirates, the flourishing city became the first Spanish military fort in the Caribbean. A lovely experience on this walking into the walled city, travelers will enjoy amazing colonial houses with its balconies and hanging gardens, streets, squares, churches, jewelry stores and museums. This ride includes one museum: The San Pedro Claver church and the Jesuits Sanctuary. On this stroll, Visitors will feel as if they were living the colonial times and sharing a magical and fantastic atmosphere with the local community.
Jhon is a wonderful guide with extensive knowledge of Cartagena and Colombia. We spent two days with him and his wife who is the driver and really enjoyed them, despite the 103 and 104 “feels like” temperatures. He is absolutely first-rate.
Jhon was a wonderful tour guide for a three hour walking tour in Cartagena de Indias. It was a hot muggy day (in mid-March!), but Jhon made up for that by relating the history and culture of his city to us, as well as telling us about aspects of Cartagena in contemporary life. He is very friendly and knowledgeable. He communicated well prior to our morning meet-up. That is something that is very reassuring. In the "short" time we had with him (which was be necessity, due to our schedule) we covered a lot, with necessary coffee and ice cream breaks along the way. He was flexible, and sensed our needs along the way. His care and attention was first-rate. I am convinced that one cannot go wrong booking a tour with Jhon.

Jhon was very accommodating of our short schedule and very willing to tailor the tour to our interests in architecture and food. He was very personable and knowledgeable. His love of Cartagena was evident in his passionate explanations of the historical city. We could have spent the whole day with Jhon. We highly recommend him.
Jhon is a very polite thoughtful person. The only reservation we had was his accent was sometimes hard for us English speakers including one person with mild hearing loss. We often had to ask him to repeat. This was our third tour with an ESL guide, but by far the most difficult to understand
