My name is Jhon, I was born and grown up in a small town named Buenavista, in Cordoba department that is located in the Caribbean region. My father and mother took care of me until I was 15 years old. Then, I moved to Cartagena to finish my secondary, after graduating I was enlisted in the army when I was 19 years old, at present I am 59. My family is big, I have eight brothers and two sisters, and we are all a live, I am very happy and give thanks my parents for everything they did for us, and God for his blessing. After leaving for the army, I started working for an industrial company for 15 years, after I stop working in there, and studied tourism and I graduated as a professional tour guide. Today, I am 17 years of experiences as a local guide and national guide, since Cartagena is a privileged city of Colombia as a cruise ship destination, I enjoy leading travelers when they arrive in each season in my city. This is the job I was searching for my life and now, it became true. I love Cartagena de Indias, it is my best city, its charms are magical, with its colonial houses, streets, walls, history, myths and legends but its friendly and nice people are spectacular sharing their culture with guests. As a local guide, I love so much this career, I have a lot experiences and knowledge of this activity, my attitude and my entire availability are parts of my job, I work with great enthusiasm, I always enjoy giving to my visitors the best of me when I lead them in my enchanting and magical city, I am well known as a local guide. This cultural and historical tour is designed and available to enjoy 2 days, for all those tra velers that are interested to know the african legacy, in Cartgena de Indias and San Basilio de Palenque Colombia. The old city of Cartagena de Indias was founded by the spanish Pedro de Heredia on June 1st of 1533. The main importance of the city under the spanish domination was based on its wealth that was stored, like emerald, pearls, gold and silver. In addition its strategic location near the caribbean sea in South America, made it became a prosperous colonial village. Indigenous, first settlers in this territory were replaced by african slaves since the Spanish conquest . The african manpower was the most important business represented by the hard work to build walls and fortification. there was a big miscegenation as mulato, mestizo and zambo. After all, african courage could reached its own freedom by royal decree in 1713. This village was named San Basilio de Palenque, being its hero Benkos.
Day 1: In Cartagena Pick up and drop off at the cruise ship terminal, airport or hotel.
