I am what you call a citizen of the world. I was born in North Africa, but I have French and Italian origins. My family moved to the south of France passing through Italy. I was raised in the south of France, and spent time in London. Love brought me to Canada, specifically to Montreal, and I stayed here for good. It has been home for almost fifty years, and I still love my city. After traveling around the world, I decided to earn a living doing what I love! I've been a Tour Director ( TD) since 1984 and have been guiding ever since. Tourism became my passion; I've been a representative for the Caribbean and have travelled also in South America. I would be happy to give you a customized tour of the Laurentians, the Appalaches, Quebec city, Ottawa, or right here in Montreal. I'm looking forward to welcoming you here. Au plaisir. As a Montrealer since five decades ago, the Old Montreal area is my one location where I've enjoyed the most to go out for a show or a dance, and "boîte à musique". Later, step by step I explored this aforementioned particular area of the city in a different way, and this is exactly the way I want to share it with you. This private walking tour will take you through the different steps of Montreal's evolution, covering its history, architecture and commerce! You'll learn how religion acted as the spine and the germinator of our history. I will also take you through the different regimes and architecture styles present in Montreal, covering squares, Government buildings, emblematic streets and temples. From the simple look of the XVII century modest french architecture to the imposing and elegant XVIII century British business institutions. This is an easy walk but I always suggest a comfortable pair of shoes. According to your interests and/or your pace, the follow itinerary can be customized/adapted:
-We'd start visiting Victoria square. -Then, we pass by the World Trade Center. -Next, we walk along St Pierre street. -Later we reach Place Jean-Paul Riopelle. -We continue by St Hélène Str. and then to McGill Str. -Reaching Place d'Youville, we'd see the custom building: Montreal Historical Center. -Then onto Pointe à Callières, Place Royale. -Next we pass by the Archeological Museum. -Afterwards, we continue via St Paul str. to Cours-le-Royer. -Next we reach Place Jacques-Cartier. -Later, we reach Bonsecours Chapel and street, with a local market. -Then onto Papineau House. -We continue via Notre-Dame str to see Montreal's City Hall. -What follows is Jean de Vauquelin square. -Next, Champs de Mars and the Nelson column. -Afterwards, we come across the Old Court House, Appeal Court of Quebec & Montreal Court House. -We then reach Place d'armes with the Maisonneuve monument and the Bank of Montreal, the first bank in Canada. -Finally, we pass by Notre-Dame Cathedral, concluding our tour.
