This is a full day out in Banff National Park, with a visit to British Columbia (and totally customizable).
Banff National Park is one of four contiguous Rocky Mountain parks. Across the continental divide - where waters flow to the Pacific Ocean - in the province of British Columbia are the parks of Kootenay and Yoho. Yoho is a Cree expresion of awe. We simply translate it as 'wow!'

One could easily spend a week exploring the area around Banff, so on this full day out, we will pick a few highlights according to weather, snow pack, time of year and your interests!

If we are lucky we'll see a train in the Spiral Tunnels . . and I have to show you the 'secret' escape route in the Town of Field (home to 169 people).

Hike Banff!

The towns of Canmore and Banff are about 20 minutes apart, with a combined population under 25000. Canmore, being outside the national park, has seen incredible grow since hosting some of the 1988 Winter Olympic Events. The Town of Banff cannot grow as it is in the national park, located on 'crown' land.

This entire valley is my home. I live in Banff, but even worked for economic development in Canmore (and opened a restaurant). My son is in his last year of high school at the French-speaking school in Canmore.

There is so much to visit and discover throughout the Bow Valley including wildlife, spectacular mountain views, indigenous history, Kananaskis Country, Olympic sites and the reminisce of former mining towns.

We'll even learn how a local olympian won bronze, silver and gold in the same event at the same olympics!

Now bordered by Kootenay N. P. and Banff N. P. Yoho became the second National Park in Canada.
On this tour you will learn about the struggles of running a railroad through the Banff area and over Kicking Horse Pass as we cross the Continental Divide into British Columbia and stop to view the Spiral Tunnels.
A single look at Takkakaw Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in Canada, and it's obvious how the park got it's name. If the sight alone doesn't have you gasping in amazement then a short walk into the spray zone of the icy water surely will.
Emerald Lake shines like, well, like an emerald and shares a unique history with the more popular Lake Louise. Learn about the significance of the Burgess Shale fossil beds located nearby.
The Natural Bridge is an aptly named geological oddity and an excellent photo opportunity.

Countless hiking options exist in the area ranging in length from half day to full day and multi day and in difficulty from very easy to very challenging.
Please tell me a bit about yourself or your group and their experience and abilities so that I may plan the best experience for you.

Full day hiking trips allow us to explore deeper into the back-country than a half day trip would allow. Guests can expect moderate to difficult terrain depending on our location as well as some possible off trail travel and or stream crossings.

No experience required but you should be in good physical shape

On this hiking/snowshoeing and sightseeing tour there are many options for every ability and activity level as well as a picnic lunch in a scenic setting.

Experience a unique walk on a river of ice between high limestone walls containing mysterious pictographs and frozen waterfalls or frolic through Alberta's champagne powder in search of sub alpine lakes.
Spring tours may be able to witness avalanches from a safe viewpoint.
