Bonjour !! My name is Louis. My french ancestors came to Ville-Marie in 1708 and my family has been living in Montréal since then. I'm a seasoned touristic guide with 30 years of experience in tourism. I started as a tour leader with french company Club Med in the 1980's. This allowed me to travel and discover many different countries such as Morrocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Senegal, French Polynesia, Bahamas, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Mexico. I came back to settle down in Montréal for good in the early 1990's. Then, I was a tour leader in the eastern part of Canada (provinces ofQuébec and Ontario) and New England (New-York city, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D. C. mostly). I've been a Montréal's city licensed tour guide since 1997. I'm passionately in love with this city of mine -the only one in North America that offers both french and english cultures. I sincerely would like to share this passion with you. Come to discover the old historic district with me !! I've been a Montréal's city licensed tour guide since 1997.

Walking tour of the downtown core. Sherbrooke street -part of the "Golden Square Mile" which in the 19th century was the most exclusive neighbourhood in Montreal and Canada. Demolition of exquisite buildings in the 1970's made me realised how rich architectural legacy in Montreal was and needed to be protected. That's when I decided to start my collection of Montreal's post cards and history books. Sainte-Catherine street, the most thriving commercial street in Canada. René-Lévesque boulevard, the main artery of corporate Montreal (including Dorchester square); then to the south of the downtown toward Victoria square, center of huge urban renewal project about 20 years ago. All of that by getting in and out of the underground city with its more than 60 buildings connected to it.

Loius is an outstanding and extremely knowledgeable guide. He was able to engage our two kids (12 and 10 yo) in learning about history of Montreal. He was very friendly, polite and on time. I would highly recommend Loius to anyone who is visiting Montreal!
We spent two days in Montreal with Louis as are guide. We were very pleased with his tours. He was very informative and interesting. I would recommend him to family and friends.
Fantastic tour. We learned a lot about Montreal and gained a lot of background knowledge. Thank you very much Louis for your easy-to-understand explanations.
Another interesting and entertaining walking tour with Louis (we also did the Old Montréal one with him!). He was flexible and made sure to include information and sights that would interest us, and took us all over the downtown. So much to see and learn about! We had a great time.
Louis' tour of downtown was so informative and his wonderful sense of humor was an added bonus! We had so much fun and truly enjoyed ourselves! We walked away feeling more educated and better understanding of downtown Montreal. Thank you Louis!
We'll see : Sherbrooke street including : -McGill University -Montreal Museum of Fine Art (from outside) -Ritz-Carlton hotel Sainte-Catherine street Dorchester Square and surrounding : -Sun Life building, once the largest office building in all of the Commonwealth in the 1930's -Montreal catholic cathedral, Mary-Queen-of-the-World Place Ville-Marie and its surroundings : -Queen Elizabeth hotel where John Lennon and Yoko Ono performed their famous bed-in in 1969 ; -the Central Train station, fine example of "modern style" architecture Square Victoria and its surrounding : -Stock Exchange Tower, once the tallest all concrete building in the world (18 months record in the 1960's) ; -Centre de Commerce mondial, my personnal favorite of recent building in downtown. All this by walking on street level or underground in the famous "RÉSO" -Montreal "indoor pedestrian network. The starting and finishing points can change depending on your hotel/lodging location or other considerations.
