I was born in Montreal in the district Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. Globetrotter, very young I travelled across the world: Europe, North Africa, Latin America, the United States and Canada. Historic and visual visit of downtown Montreal, the former residential area for the English and Scottish bourgeoisie settled down in the middle of the 19th century, Sainte-Catherine Street (the backbone of Montreal), the Cathedrals Marie-Reine-du-Monde and Christ Church, Sherbrooke Street, the Museum of Fine Arts and art galleries area, the heart of Golden Square Mile, its squares and urban parks, its underground city which is the most important in the world. Visits of some downtown subway stations, where every station is built from an artistic point of view. Old Montreal West Side which, since the creation of the City of Multimedia about two decades ago, became a place of high gastronomy and offers the biggest concentration of boutique hotels in Montreal. The alley of the Fortifications, the World Trade Center Montreal, Saint-Jacques Street, which is the ancient Canadian "Wall Street", the Place d'Armes and the Jacques-Cartier Place.
Pierre Carl met us at our Hotel and proceeded to give us a great overview of Montreal and its history. We visited areas which we would not have thought to cover on our own and experienced the underground city without getting lost! There was quite a lot of walking but it was all easy and taken at a comfortable pace. We would not hesitate to recommend Pierre Carl.
This is a great introduction to the city and will help immensely to orient you to the metro and downtown areas.
What a great way to spend the afternoon! Pierre Karl kept us moving and tailored the tour to the needs and interests of our family. We never would have seen this much of the city, and it was a great overview to guide the remainder of our trip. We got history, more recent history, anecdote, and great recommendations for other places to visit and dining and shopping in multiple neighborhoods. Pierre Karl truly knows and loves this city and was an extremely amiable guide to spend time with. Highly recommend.
Pierre provided us with a great insight to Montreal. We did a great deal of walking, but it was easy and fun to go on the subway. He explained all the important sights, history and current events of this great city.
