I was born in Montreal in the district Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. Globetrotter, very young I travelled across the world: Europe, North Africa, Latin America, the United States and Canada. From your hotel we go to the discovery of Montreal. On foot and in public transport we visit various neighborhoods of the City. With its history and architecture, Old Montreal will bring us to the period of New France, and the Colonial English period up to the Golden Age of Canada at the end of the 19th century. At the foot of Mount Royal, the Upper City, former residential area of the Anglo-Saxon elite. It has since become Montreal Downtown. A bit further, we discover the trendy districts of Griffintown, Saint-Henri with its big public market offering the flavors of Quebec tradition. Westmount, a city in the city, sits on one of the summits of the island. Outremont, its French-speaking twin, grew up in the early 1920's when the more fortunate families settled down a little more northward. The Plateau, a former working-class district, is now the multi-cultural place of residence of many artists, young professionals, families, intellectuals and was the adoptive neighborhood of Leonard Cohen
Pierre is insightful and enjoyable to be with. We spent a day with him at the outset of our time in Montreal which helped us to organize the rest of our visit and decide what neighborhoods and attractions to return to and explore in greater depth. This was a great comprehensive tour of Montreal. We were very tired at the end of the tour but, we really enjoyed it all. One of the unexpected highlights was the Barbie museum in the under ground city. Thanks for a great tour while we were stopped in Montreal on our cruise.
