Discover why I have such a soft spot for the Scots. They did so much for Montreal and were instrumental in building Canada. In the 1800's, when Montreal was the largest city in Canada, two-thirds of the nation's wealth was concentrated here, in the shadow of Mount Royal, in an area that covered roughly one square mile around today's McGill University campus. We will discover the cradle of Canada's commercial aristocracy at the time, which was as much an idea as a geographical entity. Stately mansions, the city's top luxury hotel, the former Royal Victoria Hospital, the square where ice palaces were built, and much more await you on this fascinating journey into a bygone way of life during Montreal's golden age.
Depending on the duration and pace you have chosen, you will see some or all of the following: - McGill University - Stately mansions on Sherbrooke St. and Pine Ave. - Royal Victoria Hospital - Le Mount Stephen (George Stephen's House) - Ritz Carlton Hotel - Windsor Station
