Guide #3022
Hello, my name is Jason and the condensed story is that I grew up in the middle of the US (central Illinois), studied history and married a German. My first trip to Europe was in 1997. I spent three years teaching in the US and then finished writing my M. A. in History in Germany. I started working as a tour guide about 15 years ago for companies in Munich as well as directly for the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial site. My wife is originally from the Nuremberg area and I explored the city in my free time on our holidays and weekends there. The more I got to know the city, the better I liked it. Although the Third Reich sites and courthouse are the initial draw for some people, the city has a thousand years of fascinating history, fantastic Gothic architecture, welcoming people and a bit of an independent streak that I could identify with. I'd be happy to help you explore these places with a walking tour. Please note that I do not offer driving tours, food tours or shopping tours. Jason E. Jason met us at our hotel and gave us a wonderful tour through downtown Nuremberg, up to the Castle, and out to the Nazi Rally Grounds. Jason accommodated all of our needs, and educated and entertained us with lots of history and stories. We heartily recommend Jason for a very good introduction to beautiful and fascinating Nuremberg.
I am very belatedly writing this review to share that my husband and I really recommend the "overview" tour of Nuremberg we took with Jason this past October. He's knowledgeable, interesting, and easy-going yet professional — we learned a ton about Nuremberg that we didn't know, and we also very much enjoyed Jason's company. Great guy, and a great intro to the city!
Jason was most excellent! He kindly met us at a different location (as we got lost in Xmas market chaos) and also adjusted the tour stops to best suit our group’s interests. We thoroughly enjoyed his expertise on all things Nuremberg spanning gothic, baroque and more modern eras. He’s a true subject matter expert with a great sense of humor. Thanks again, Jason!
Simply stated, our tour with Jason was amazing. He took time to answer our questions and made sure we visited places of special interest. Jason's knowledge of the city, history, and friendliness made for a very enjoyable introduction to a wonderful city. Can't recommend Jason enough for anyone considering an informative and very enjoyable experience.
