Hello, my name is Jason and the condensed story is that I grew up in the middle of the US (central Illinois), studied history and married a German. My first trip to Europe was in 1997. I spent three years teaching in the US and then finished writing my M. A. in History in Germany. I started working as a tour guide about 15 years ago for companies in Munich as well as directly for the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial site. My wife is originally from the Nuremberg area and I explored the city in my free time on our holidays and weekends there. The more I got to know the city, the better I liked it. Although the Third Reich sites and courthouse are the initial draw for some people, the city has a thousand years of fascinating history, fantastic Gothic architecture, welcoming people and a bit of an independent streak that I could identify with. I'd be happy to help you explore these places with a walking tour. Please note that I do not offer driving tours, food tours or shopping tours. Jason E. Certified by the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial M.A. in History from Illinois State University

We'll explore the remaining Third Reich sites in the city including the Luitpold Arena, Congress Hall of the Nazi Party and the Zeppelin Field (weather permitting). You'll see where the Nazi propaganda events for the Nuremberg Rallies took place, the remains of some of the largest 3rd Reich buildings in the world, and how Germany presents this dark history today. We then travel to the Nuremberg Courthouse, home to Courtroom 600 and the War-Crimes Trials. There is an additional entrance fee of €7. 50 per person if you wish to see the courtroom and exhibition. The entrance fee includes an audio guide for the exhibition in English. I've given tours of Nuremberg for 15 years, have a master's degree in History and will try to answer any questions you may have. I'm also always happy to include some restaurant and beer recommendations. Please be aware that the Rallies were held in a large public park which is still in use today, so not all areas will be accessible at all times.
We normally start with the Rally Grounds, the Zeppelin Field and then visit the Great Street, Luitpold Arena and Congress Hall of the Nazi Party. We then travel to the Nuremberg Courthouse and Courtroom 600, site of the War-Crimes Trials. The tour is very flexible, just let me know at the beginning of the tour if there is anything in particular you are interested in seeing.
