Guide #56798
Hello! My name is Linda and I am passionate about archaeology, history and architecture. I hold a PhD in archaeology and have taught at university level, but I never want to stop learning - I just completed a (third!) masters degree in architecture. I love traveling (I have visited 59 countries so far), and immersing myself in new cultures and languages. In my spare time, I sing and perform in Ancient Greek theater plays. I also enjoy good food and wine (I am French after all!), a good laugh, art, the opera, hiking, swimming and diving. I was raised in Paris, and many of my weekends as a child and a teenager were spent at Versailles and the Louvre, daydreaming about life at the court of the Sun King, in Mesopotamia, pharaonic Egypt, or in Raphael's Renaissance. Museum artifacts and monuments would come to life and tell me so many stories. They sparked my lifelong passion for culture. . . I would love to share my love for Paris and its centuries of history with you! I am a researcher as well as a licensed guide. I actually started with teaching archaeology on-site to university students at Greek archaeological sites and museums, and soon realized that I enjoy spreading my expertise beyond university circles as well. I now share my time between academic research, including some very interesting excavations in Greece and Turkey, and guiding those who are truly interested in discovering the hidden gems of Paris (and sometimes beyond). If you would like to travel through time at the Louvre (where you can be transported in turn to the Hittite empire, classical Greece and Da Vinci's workshop), the incredible palace Versailles, or discuss medieval building techniques while strolling along the Seine and discovering architectural wonders, you came to the right person. My tours are designed for culture lovers; each of them is private and can be adapted to your preferences. There are a thousand ways to discover Paris, and you deserve your own custom quality tour, over one or several days, in Paris and beyond… I have a special fondness for Burgundy, where my family is from, and would love to show you its castles and wineries! And why not hire a private driver or hop in a train to push the trip even further, into breathtaking Provence? I have experience with highly personalized and private luxury journeys throughout France and the Mediterranean, including experiences too exclusive and unique to be advertised in a premade package. Do not hesitate to contact me for more information - who knows, your dream of visiting a site which normally isn't open to visitors or sailing to a Mediterranean island in a wooden sailboat might come true! Whether you prefer to travel on foot, bicycle, ride a horse, rent a boat or a helicopter, see all of France or extend your visit in mythological lands around the Mediterranean, drop me a line and I will do my best to make it happen! Do tell me about you and your interests, so that I can assist you in creating the memories of a lifetime. Professional guiding license (carte de guide conférencière): no. 2275040P. Double PhD in Classical Archaeology (Sorbonne, Paris & University of Athens, Greece) MA in Architecture (ENSAS & University of Strasbourg) MA in Classics & Archaeology (Sorbonne) BA in Classics (Ancient Greek, Latin, Old French) Modern Greek proficiency (University of Athens) English teaching proficiency Drivers license Diving licence (PADI Advanced OW) None
