Xin Chào! My name is Xuan. It is pronounced as "soon". It means springtime when all things are fresh and alive. I grew up in the beautiful and majestic Mekong Delta, about 2,5 hours by car from Ho Chi Minh City. As a child I was captivated by the delta's long rivers with its lively floating markets. There are many rice paddies and fruits orchards in the various parts of the Mekong Delta. I enjoyed exploring these interesting places. So, I grew up loving this region and always wanted to show this beautiful part of Vietnam to tourists. I studied tourism in Can Tho University and graduated in 2012. After graduation I moved to Ho Chi Minh City and became a freelance tour guide. It was a dream come true. I love travelling, meeting new people, and exploring new cultures. I have been to several countries in Europe, Asia and Oceania. My travels abroad have re-enforced my desire to be a capable and responsible tour guide. To see the world is to live life to the fullest. If you are interested in a full day trip with limit time, you can take my combined private tour of Cu Chi Tunnels and Ho Chi Minh City. The first half of the day is spent at Cu Chi Tunnels, one of Vietnam's most popular attractions for travelers. The journey is about 90 minutes from downtown of Ho Chi Minh city. The tunnels are part of a massive and elaborate tunnel system of more than 200km used during the Vietnam War. Today, this place offers a sneak-peek at the interesting underground life of Viet Cong soldiers during the wars against the French and the Americans. The second half of the day is spent in Ho Chi Minh City also commonly known as "Saigon". The largest city in Vietnam, it is home to 14 million people and 10 million scooters! Saigon has since risen from the devastation of the war period. We can still see well-preserved colonial buildings and war relics in the city. On the other hand, high rise and modern buildings are making their presence felt.
Xuan was a wonderful guide to the culture and history of Vietnam especially the American War. Every American should visit the Chu Chu tunnels. He took us to a great lunch spot and introduced us to the real Pho. We had a fully packed day as a cruise ship excursion.
