I'm the only former National Park Service Ranger offering tours in Savannah. I’ve been voted Savannah's Best Tour Guide by both Savannah Magazine and Connect Savannah Magazine, and my tours are consistently voted the city's Best Walking Tours by readers of those publications. In 2023, I was even named Savannah's "Best All-Around Resident!" I graduated with distinction from the Virginia Military Institute (History Major, of course). My historic and interpretive skills were honed while serving as a Park Ranger at the Richmond National Battlefield Park. Additionally, I had an article published wherein I argued that Civil War battles may have caused rain (Ask me about it – I’ll send you the link. It’s OK to decline and call me a nerd.). All-in-all, I bring over fifteen years of historian/tour experience to your tour. In fact, our tours have been featured on the Travel Channel, the New York Times, and Georgia Public Broadcasting (NPR). The majority of Savannah tours are "anecdotal" tours, meaning guides merely provide a few facts about the buildings and monuments they encounter. I use my Park Service training to create tours centered around a narrative, ensuring guests walk away with a deep understanding of the tour's subject matter. I am also one of the few Certified Tour Guides of Savannah, having passed the exam now offered by the Tourism Leadership Council. I am a member of the Georgia Historical Society, the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation, and the Friends of Honey Hill, an organization actively preserving and interpreting the Honey Hill Battlefield in South Carolina. Once you inevitably learn of my interest in craft beer, it will not surprise you to know I'm a co-founder and Board Member of Richmond Beeristoric, a 501(c)(3) that leads tours of beer-related historic sites in Richmond, Virginia. I recently resigned from my full-time legal practice to focus on my passion: Showing folks around my hometown of beautiful Savannah.

This tour takes place entirely within historic Colonial Park Cemetery. We’ll start by discussing Savannah’s first cemeteries and the eventual move to this location. You’ll see the oldest and newest tombstones still existing in the cemetery. We’ll also explore the graves of famous residents, including some true American heroes, and talk about a few unusual causes of death. This tour wouldn’t be complete without viewing tombstones vandalized by Sherman’s soldiers. We’ll tie it all up with the closing and demise of the cemetery, as well as a more recent true story of how some of its inhabitants accidentally reappeared.
We'll begin with a brief history of the cemetery. Then, we'll meet more than a dozen people buried within the walls. This tour takes place entirely within historic Colonial Park Cemetery. Full Disclosure – This is NOT a ghost tour. Sure, it’s in a cemetery, and we’ll discuss some creepy things, but this tour is grounded in fact and actual history. There will be no reference to ghosts, ghouls, banshees, or the like. Savannah has plenty of those tours already!
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
Guests will provide their own transportation to the cemetery.
