I'm the only former National Park Service Ranger offering tours in Savannah. I’ve been voted Savannah's Best Tour Guide by both Savannah Magazine and Connect Savannah Magazine, and my tours are consistently voted the city's Best Walking Tours by readers of those publications. In 2023, I was even named Savannah's "Best All-Around Resident!" I graduated with distinction from the Virginia Military Institute (History Major, of course). My historic and interpretive skills were honed while serving as a Park Ranger at the Richmond National Battlefield Park. Additionally, I had an article published wherein I argued that Civil War battles may have caused rain (Ask me about it – I’ll send you the link. It’s OK to decline and call me a nerd.). All-in-all, I bring over fifteen years of historian/tour experience to your tour. In fact, our tours have been featured on the Travel Channel, the New York Times, and Georgia Public Broadcasting (NPR). The majority of Savannah tours are "anecdotal" tours, meaning guides merely provide a few facts about the buildings and monuments they encounter. I use my Park Service training to create tours centered around a narrative, ensuring guests walk away with a deep understanding of the tour's subject matter. I am also one of the few Certified Tour Guides of Savannah, having passed the exam now offered by the Tourism Leadership Council. I am a member of the Georgia Historical Society, the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation, and the Friends of Honey Hill, an organization actively preserving and interpreting the Honey Hill Battlefield in South Carolina. Once you inevitably learn of my interest in craft beer, it will not surprise you to know I'm a co-founder and Board Member of Richmond Beeristoric, a 501(c)(3) that leads tours of beer-related historic sites in Richmond, Virginia. I recently resigned from my full-time legal practice to focus on my passion: Showing folks around my hometown of beautiful Savannah.

Overview of your Savannah tour

We pride ourselves on fact-based history. That's why we don't give ghost tours. Savannah has so much dark history that we don't need to make up any! This tour begins with a brutal duel that took place in a bar that still exists to this day. We'll move on to discuss Savannah's first murder. You'll learn of the colony's first cemetery and hear of a Native who was crucial to Georgia's success. We'll visit the location where a more recent serial killer met a victim, then discuss Colonial Park Cemetery's past and present. Savannah saw a great deal of tragedy during the Revolution, and you'll learn about the toll it took. We'll tie things up at the site of a killing that ironically put Savannah on the pop culture map and helped lead to its booming tourist industry today. Of course, we'd be remiss if we didn't take some time to debunk a number of Savannah's most popular "ghost" stories. This is Savannah's only fact-based alternative to its many ghost tours!

Your Savannah tour itinerary

This tour moves mainly along Bull Street, with brief stops east and west along the way. We'll visit several Savannah's squares and discuss true events (Take that, ghost tours!). Other stops may include Colonial Park Cemetery, houses of worship, and a number of monuments.
