Blast Through the Past: A 2-Hour Walking Tour of Savannah's Historic District

Bonnie was a fantastic guide. She taught us so much about the history of Georgia, and how Savannah became such a beautiful city. And she made it fun! She easily incorporated our other plans for the day into the tour, meeting us at the location we specified and heading us in the direction of our hotel. She gave us some great recommendations for food and shopping. She communicated with us the day of the tour to make sure everything was still on track, and she even brought an extra umbrella for the afternoon thundershower that inevitably caught up with us. We would definitely take another tour with Bonnie.

Bonnie is a terrific tour guide. She brings Savannah’s history to life with fascinating stories and anecdotes from Savannah’s founding to the present day. 2 hours flew by. I highly recommend her tour!

Bonnie is a Savannah local with a wealth of knowledge about her city that helped connect the past to the present as we walked together. Our walking tour started at the fountain in Forsyth Park, through the market offering art, food, and local crafts. We continued through the beautiful oak tree lined squares visiting monuments honoring and learning about the founding of Georgia by James Oglethorpe, American Revolutionary War heroes Casimir Pulaski, the father of American cavalry and sergeant William Jasper who heroically fought through enemy fire to secure his company's flag. Each square advancing us further back in time to the oldest sections of Savannah. Bonnie's passion for Savannah history and her ability (& willingness) to answer our randomly asked questions brought Savannah's history to life. She was also very informed about modern Savannah, sharing some favorite streets to visit (so many beautiful homes and oak tree lined streets) and restaurants, chocolate shops, and pubs. Finally, we appreciated her honest story telling of the history of the city, the critical role of enslaved people and the many talents and trades leveraged through their labor to help build its beautiful architecture and infrastructure. We highly recommend Bonnie for an historic walking tour!
