Originally from the east coast, but have been a San Francisco local since 2000. I am the owner of a walking tour company, and over the past fourteen years, I have given over 3000 tours to guests from all over the world. I offer six different tours of the neighborhoods of San Francisco. . . The Castro, Mission district, Telegraph Hill, Eureka Valley, Cow Hollow, Pacific Heights, Chinatown, North Beach, Russian Hill and Golden Gate Park. All of the tours are approximately four miles each, cover various neighborhoods, and have at least one hill and one stairway on them. I take people to hidden stairways and gardens, amazing vistas, and famous landmarks. Along the way, I use my iPad to show relevant historical photos that are arranged in order of the stops on the tour. The tours were all designed as loops, with the start and finish a landmark spot, so guests do not get lost when the tour is finished. Take a secret passage to California's Historical Landmark #91, Telegraph Hill. Enjoy crisp views of the waterfront, explore the history of the Embarcadero, and enjoy the charm of the wooden steps and lush greenery that wraps around the Filbert Stairs at Telegraph Hill. Reach the summit & witness the local history of Coit Tower, a SF landmark in Pioneer Park. Beyond the tower a hidden garden awaits, offering spectacular views of the Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, and the Infamous Alcatraz Island. Descend the masonry of the Greenwich Street steps to Levi Plaza, the headquarters of jeans, and visit Green Street Laboratory, where Philo Farnsworth sent the first television transmission. Can you guess what was the first image on TV? Following the breeze of the Old Waterfront, we'll head to the coast. I'll share stories of the 'old days', when three-mast ships bustled along Yerba Buena Cove during SF's construction. Today, the Embarcadero waterfront hosts attractions like the Ferry Building-Our starting & ending point.
We did two San Francisco tours with Ryan 8 years ago. When we returned last month we were pleased to see that Ryan was still doing tours. As with the previous tours, Ryan did an excellent job informing us and entertaining us at the same time. If you’re in San Francisco and looking for a tour guide, Ryan would be an excellent choice.
