I am proud to be born and raised in New Orleans! My love for this city runs deep, and started with my grandfather's dream of owning a piece of its reputation for world-renowned food. He and my grandmother started Short Stop Po-Boys in a small grocery store over 50 years ago, and it has been a part of our family and local community ever since. Bringing people together was something that was so important to them, and they made sure that passion lived with every one of us. I remember sitting around listening to him share stories about how it all began, and those are some of the memories I hold most dear. They are also just the thing that sparked my never-ending curiosity! Over the years, owing much of it to my father, I've developed a sincere love for history, and there is no shortage of it in New Orleans! I spent 15 years in luxury hospitality which took me to other destinations all over the United States, and then the historical roots of the city came calling. With the support of family, friends, and other historians, I've found my way to being a professional guide, and have never looked back! Now as a grateful husband and father of 3, I instill that same excitement in my own family for our unique culture, and its incredibly rich beginnings. With every guest, my true goal is that you return home with a deeper understanding and love for the spirit of New Orleans. Plantation Country is an easy drive from New Orleans, and its one of my favorite places to go for a day trip. There are several incredible options. First is Oak Alley Plantation. From its 28 Oaks to its open spaces, to its hidden nooks and crannies, Oak Alley's Landscape tells the story of a plantation in its evolution. Second is Laura, a Creole Plantation, with 11 structures listed on the National Register. Laura offers you the chance to explore its newly restored Manor House, the formal and kitchen gardens, Banana-Land grove, and its authentic Creole cottages and slave cabins. I am happy to take you on the drive down plantation row, and share some amazing stories of its history!
Wonderful tour. Benjamin is very knowledgeable about all things New Orleans, and made the drive out to the plantations extremely pleasant. We had plenty of time to see everything we wanted to without feeling rushed. I would highly recommend his tours.

The picturesque beauty and architecture of the Louisiana plantations are a "must" for any visitor to New Orleans. Many of these breathtaking homes are within an hour's drive. Your tour will begin with a comfortable ride out of New Orleans where I will share with you the origin of the Louisiana plantations, along with the effect they had on the city and its residents. Along with discovering beautiful buildings, luscious gardens and historic artifacts, these homes also represent some of the darker chapters of Louisiana history. Upon arrival, each plantation home has its own docent to bring you through the main house, and share its specific story, while I walk the grounds with you and share more colorful details. You can expect to spend 2 hours at each home, and 2 hours of total travel time for this experience. Because of the time invested in this tour, I am happy to include time to stop for lunch as well.
