August 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. For New Orleans it was the flood that followed that caused so much damage. In order to understand the storm & it's effects, first we will took at maps, seeing how and explaining how the water entered the city. We will drive to the Lower 9th Ward, see the recovery efforts in one of the hardest hit neighborhoods. The neighborhood has been largely rebuilt due to the Make It Right Foundation. We will continue to other areas rebuilding. Katrina had an impact on all citizens of New Orleans, both rich and poor. More than a decade later, how are we doing? We will answer those questions. I was here during the rebuilding of the storm, I will share my own story as well.
The itinerary will be as followed: - Meet your hotel, look at maps. - Drive to Lower 9th Ward. - Go around the Lakefront area and 17th Street Canal area. - Return to your hotel. Please send me a message if you would like to customize this tour.
