"You are the eyes of tourists" one of my guests said to me. After visiting 40 countries around the world, I decided to become a tour guide of my home country - Taiwan. For past 20 years, I was eager to see the other part of the world. I tried my best to travel around. When traveling couldn't satisfied me, I spent a year in the UK in order to know more about local life and also received my Master degree. One day, I realized what I was looking for is not from outside, but it is actually inside my home country — Taiwan is no less beautiful but very unknown. I think it's time to tell you this hidden gem. Please come and travel with me! It makes big difference who you travel with. We can talk about Taiwan and/or exchange our travel stories! One Canadian lady (who is the owner of a chocolate and organic tea house in Kyoto, Japan) told me : you have very sensitive eyes! After I showed her a special photo I took in her wonderful tea house. A British friend once said to me: You are unique! Yes, I'm unique :-) I've been to many places, not only Europe and the US, but also Iran, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Myanmar, Lao. . . on my own or with a friend. Those experience made me see things in different way and that's why I can write travel articles (now I write articles about arts and culture) for the top 1 newspapers in Taiwan. The places listed in the tours might be similar to others, but I am the one who made it different! Please come and travel with me. You will love Taiwan as I do! PS. 1. I was majored in computer and trained/did coding for 10 years. I had been working for airline / national tourism board / travel agency, and now even as a tour guide, I am different from other tour guides who is just a tour guide ;) PS. 2. Tour guide is my main job. My 2nd job is tour leader. In summer, I often escort student group to study English overseas. Spend 3 to 4 weeks in England/London or Boston/New York. My 3rd job is writing articles (including taking photos) for the leading news paper in Taiwan. It's a full page articles printed on the newspaper (not a internet blog which anyone can write). After you have seen the city center, this is the best choice for natural view outside Taipei city. We will visit: 1. Jiu-fen, a gold mining village with mountain in the back and ocean in the front. The view is amazing even I have been so many times. Never tired of it. 2. Shi-Fen, a coal mining village with waterfall and sky lantern release activity.
Wonderful day trip from Taipei! The scenery wiyh mountains/valleys and seaport were beautiful, and the ride was comfortable and scenic. Yi Fen is a great guide who combined education about the history and culture of these mountain villages along with great conversations about daily life in Taiwan. We had a really nice lunch at a famous tea house overlooking the sea with beautiful views and delicious food and tea. Great experience! Thank you Yi Fen!

This tour was perfect! From picking us up and giving us the topography of Tiawan to going to Shifen and Juifin and providing us the history or these mining towns. We asked to go to a temple that was not on our itinerary and she was very accommodating. Yifen is fun and informational and her english is amazing.
This was our 3rd tour with Yi Fen. It was a great day visiting the villages and the lantern release was a highlight in Shih-Fen. Jiu-fen was a great stop with the walk on Old Street was interesting and she helped us select a tea house for our lunch. It was tough saying goodbye to her after 3 days of great touring. Don't hesitate to book this gem of a guide!

Yi Fen was our guide for our 2 day visit to to Taipei and the surrounding countryside. What a delightful two days it was. She was flexible in meeting our needs and went above and beyond in making sure that we left a a better understanding of Taiwan, its history, its culture and its people. She showed us real life in Taiwan and places not always visited by tourists. We fully enjoyed our time with her and recommend her if you are visiting Taiwan.
Pick up at Keelung Harbor Transfer to Jiu-fen (around 30 ~ 45 minutes). Visit Jiu-Fen, a gold mining mountain village. Walk on the old street with lots of shops and you can choose a tea house to have a cup of tea or lunch with great view. Transfer to Shi-Fen (around 40 ~ 50 minutes). Visit Shi-Fen, famous for the biggest waterfall in Taiwan. Take a nice walk (around 15~20 minutes) to waterfall. If you like walking, we can extend another 20 minutes walk to see different angle of the waterfall. Visit the village near the waterfall (few minutes by car). Here, you can write down your wishes on the lantern and release it to the sky. People here believe your dreams will then come true! Back to Keelung Harbor (around 30~45 minutes). P. S. 1: There are staircases in the mountain village and waterfall area. P. S. 2: The order of visit will depends on the pick up time and weather.
