Geographically located at the heart of Asia, Taiwan has been a cultural and political centre of the Far East since the 19th century. Along with a chequered past comes the grace of cultural collision, leading to the vibrant and welcoming character Taiwanese society is famous for. Taipei has been the island's capital since 1895, the beginning of the Japanese colonial era, and her beauty lies within the texture of all human activities, shaped by different regimes and cultural identities. It is truly a great city with tonnes of hidden treasures. Chris will present the history of Taipei to you street by street, where you will explore how the metropolis became what it is today and view some of Asia's most beautiful 20th-century architecture. Rest assured, your tour will include a plethora of interesting stories and anecdotes. There’s no better way to experience Taipei’s depth and colour of fine cuisines than going on a gluttonous journey through the city’s famous night markets or visiting a selection of the most authentic and unique restaurants, cafés and bistros handpicked by Chris. All diets welcome. Thanks to the island's terrain, you’re never far away from Mother Nature, so for those who enjoy a bit of scenery, you're in luck: Strolling the beautiful Dihua Old Street with a cup of refreshing bubble milk tea in the morning, sunbathing at Fulong Beach in the afternoon, and sipping oolong at a tranquil teahouse up in the mountains of Maokong at sunset are all possible within the same day. . All tours are tailored to every traveller’s needs. You will receive a Traveller’s Document, which includes a welcome letter, detailed itinerary, traveller’s guide to Taipei and Taiwan, and a handpicked selection of recommendations for food and drink, shopping, attractions and more.
