Born and bred in Rotterdam and I know my city inside out. I have been working as a tour guide for small groups in Rotterdam for more than 20 years. It is my passion and enthusiasm for my home town that I love to share with visitors to Rotterdam and around. I studied political science and history at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. My interests and expertise cover a wide range of subjects, but architecture, history, art and sports are my favorites. In addition to showing the most famous sights, I like to wander off the beaten track and show the visitor lesser known and surprising spots and aspects of the city. I am well traveled and have seen a lot of the world already- 60+ countries and counting! My broad experience in dealing with both Dutch and international guests help me in making your visit a memorable one. Rotterdam is close to both Delft and the Hague. Both these historic Dutch cities can be included in a longer tour. The same goes for the Windmills of Kinderdijk. My tours can be carried out in English, German, French, Swedish or Dutch. The set up of my tours is flexible and can be customized to meet your needs and interests as much as possible. When your group is larger than the indicated maximum for a specific tour this can be customized as well. Please let me know. Overview of your Rotterdam tour

Get to know the city with many faces. On this tour you will see the major sights in the centre of Rotterdam. I will fill you in on the history of the city, from its humble beginnings as a fishing village to the major port on a global scale it is today. You will see how old and new get on harmoniously side by side. New architectural works of art next to some centuries old houses and churches that survived. You will hear some interesting anecdotes as we will also visit some lesser known spots that will give you a different and surprising new perspective on Rotterdam and its people. This walking tour was well-paced and shared many Rotterdam highlights with us. We enjoyed the cultural and historical information that Eddy shared during our tour. The walk integrated a few well-placed subway rides to permit us to extend our Rotterdam tour to different parts of the city. During the tour we stopped for a brief coffee break. At the end of our walking tour, we concluded that 3 to 4 days would be needed to better enter and explore the sights we viewed during our walking tour.

Eddy greeted us warmly at the Cruise Terminal for our walking tour that included a water taxi ride across the river; a leisurely walk to and through the museum district; a short coffee break, and further walking to see St Lawrence Church, the Market Hall, the Cubic Houses and the Maritime District before returning to our ship. Eddy’s companionable nature, plus his knowledgeable and humorous running commentary, gave us a wonderful introduction to Rotterdam. We recommend him highly!

We (a party of 5 adults) had an excellent tour by Eddy. He was accommodating to your scheduling changes, which we appreciated. He guided us on a walking tour through Rotterdam, which was a highlight of our Netherlands stay. Eddy is from Rotterdam, so was able to bring so much depth to the city. He patiently answered our many questions. He has a lovely demeanor and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. He recommended additional sites beyond Rotterdam, and was kind enough to email restaurant suggestions.

We start the walk from our meeting location (Cruise Port). On our route we will visit the major sights such as: -The Erasmus Bridge, -St Lawrence Church, -The Market Hall, -Old Port, -Cubic Houses -The Maritime District. -Hotel New York - Fenix Migration Museum - City Hall We will end the tour at our starting point or - if you prefer - at a different location in the city centre.
