We had a great day touring kinderdijk with Eddy. He did an excellent job describing the history of the windmills and the complex history of the water within the country. We would definitely recommend!

Born and bred in Rotterdam and I know my city inside out. I have been working as a tour guide for small groups in Rotterdam for more than 20 years. It is my passion and enthusiasm for my home town that I love to share with visitors to Rotterdam and around. I studied political science and history at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. My interests and expertise cover a wide range of subjects, but architecture, history, art and sports are my favorites. In addition to showing the most famous sights, I like to wander off the beaten track and show the visitor lesser known and surprising spots and aspects of the city. I am well traveled and have seen a lot of the world already- 60+ countries and counting! My broad experience in dealing with both Dutch and international guests help me in making your visit a memorable one. Rotterdam is close to both Delft and the Hague. Both these historic Dutch cities can be included in a longer tour. The same goes for the Windmills of Kinderdijk. My tours can be carried out in English, German, French, Swedish or Dutch. The set up of my tours is flexible and can be customized to meet your needs and interests as much as possible. When your group is larger than the indicated maximum for a specific tour this can be customized as well. Please let me know. Word Heritage site of Kinderdijk has no less than 19 working Dutch Windmills. These 18th century Windmills are a living testimony of the Dutch centuries long struggle to keep water levels under control. I will take you on a half day trip from Rotterdam to admire the centuries old mills, explain their function in shaping and maintaining the Dutch countryside. One of the mills is open for visitors. After a walk around the site we will tour around the wider area to see even more windmills.

We loved our Kinderdijk Windmill tour with Eddy! He was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with for the morning. Thanks for a great experience!!
Eddy did a wonderful tour. He was knowledgeable about Rotterdam in general and the windmills in particular. He knew everything about whatever question popped into my mind. Some of which were remembrance from stories I read many, many years ago. Eddy was patient at all my stoppings to take photographs and waited till I hurried up to him and my husband. I would definitely recommend him to friends traveling to the Netherlands and ask for him again when we return.
Our visit to Kinderdijk with Eddy was highly informative. We learned about the history and function of the site and about the operation of the local water boards which are unique to the Netherlands. Only one windmill was open because of maintenance activities. We were fortunate that the Miller joined us and added to our visit. I have no doubt that the additional information the gained will be incorporated into Eddy's future tours. Eddy is an excellent tour guide and I highly recommend him.
I will pick you at the Rotterdam Cruise Terminal, your hotel in Central Rotterdam or any other location within Rotterdam and we will drive to the Kinderdijk area. This about 30 minutes by car. At Kinderdijk we will leave the car and walk along the 19 windmills that are part of the World Heritage Site. One of mills is open to visitors. Next is a visit to the visitor centre inside the electrical pump house. This pump replaced the mills at the beginning of the 20th century. The Centre has a small exhibition and a audio-visual show explaining the history and role of mills in Dutch water management. After our visit to Kinderdijk World Heritage Site we will be returning to Rotterdam.
