Hola! My name is Silvia and I am a professional tour guide in Malta. Originally from Ecuador, I moved here in the year 2000 and I have been a guide for the past 20 years. Malta is my second home and this is my dream job. Like you dear visitor, I was once a tourist and after discovering that this tiny archipelago has 7000+ years of history in only 316 SQ KM, I fell in love with its narrow streets and medieval towns. After 25 years, I still feel I am living in the land of the eternal sunshine (we have 300 days of sun a year). I have the knowledge and experience to make you discover our little gem in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea. Maltese culture is a wonderful mixture of different cultures and I have a passion for Maltese folklore. Anecdotes, superstitions and of course the history of every place we visit are part of the tours I deliver. Keeping in mind that this is your holiday or vacation, I will always make a point to let you enjoy your time in Malta, and adjust to your needs at the time of our tour. With me, you don't have to be shy and you can ask any questions regarding any aspects of everyday life in Malta. I will make my utmost effort to answer you in a timely manner, and if there is something I don't know I will find the information for you and for me. My biggest weakness is food, and in Malta, we are spoilt for choice of amazing places to try delicious Mediterranean dishes. So don't be surprised if I suggest a shortstop to savour one of our local delicacies. Or maybe just to sit down and relax in a typical square of a quaint village and sink into the atmosphere. These are just a few of a thousand reasons why I love Malta, and why I would be happy to take you on a journey to the past in a fun, informative and entertaining way. This tour is one of the best ways to see and discover the 'city build by gentlemen for gentlemen'. Valletta is a UNESCO World Heritage City being one of the first cities designed and built as a military fortress in the 16th century. The straight streets and elegant baroque buildings will make you feel just like a knight (armor missing!) in every corner. Perfect for those who enjoy a good walk while absorbing and savoring the history and culture of this capital city of Malta!
Departing from cruise terminal if you are coming by ship, or near Triton Fountain Square if you are already in Malta, we start by getting to know the background history of Valletta. Passing by City Gate designed by Renzo Piano, we will walk the main streets of the city and stop by the most important buildings and sites such as New Parliament, Castille Square, the Upper Barakka Gardens to admire the Grand Harbor and from here we'll walk along the fortifications right towards St George's Square, the center of the city. The Grand Master's Palace, the seat of Maltese government will be viewed from the outside. A must see place is St John's cathedral where one can admire the jewel of baroque art and the works of Caravaggio. In Republic street one finds the Republic Square with the National Library, and maybe we can stop for capuccino and pastizzi (local delicacy) at one of the typical cafes. Our tour finishes walking to our starting point or in a local restaurant if you wish to stay for lunch or dinner.

This is a walking tour. You should be able to walk a moderate stretch of time. However I can arrange for private transportation to take us to Valetta for cruise port or accommodation.
