Discover the charm of Japan’s historic mountain villages on this 9-hour private tour from Kanazawa to Shirakawa-go and Takayama. Travel comfortably in a private vehicle with me, your English-speaking guide who is a driver, enjoying the scenic countryside along the way. First, visit the UNESCO-listed Shirakawa-go, where you will spend around 2 hours exploring its iconic Gassho-zukuri farmhouses. Walk through the picturesque village, visit traditional homes, and enjoy breathtaking views from the Shiroyama Observatory. Next, continue to Takayama for its well-preserved historical district. Spend 2–3 hours strolling through Sanmachi Street, lined with Edo-period buildings, craft shops, and sake breweries. Enjoy a sake tasting experience, visit the Takayama Jinya, or browse exquisite Hida cedarwood crafts. The tour concludes with a relaxing drive back to Kanazawa, arriving around 5:30 PM. Your Kanazawa tour itinerary
8:30 AM – Pickup from your hotel in Kanazawa. 10:00 AM – Arrive at Shirakawa-go. Explore the historic Gassho-zukuri village. Visit traditional homes and local shops. Enjoy panoramic views from Shiroyama Observatory. 12:00 PM – Depart for Takayama. 1:00 PM – Arrive in Takayama. Walk through Sanmachi Street and explore Edo-period buildings. Optional visit to Takayama Jinya (entry fee not included). Browse beautiful Hida cedarwood crafts. Optional ; Enjoy sake tasting at a traditional brewery. Free time for lunch (at your own expense). 3:30 PM – Depart from Takayama. 5:30 PM – Return to Kanazawa (hotel drop-off). or I can drop you off in Takayama, or Shirakawago. Please feel free to ask where you want me to pick you up and drop you off.
