Hi everyone! I’m Lucy, and I’m excited to introduce myself. I’m originally from the south of France, and my journey has taken me through both France and Germany, where I worked in fashion and costume design before life led me to Japan. In 2019, my husband’s work brought us to Kanazawa, and it didn’t take long for this beautiful city to capture my heart. Since then, we’ve welcomed two wonderful children here, making our connection to Kanazawa even deeper. Over the years, I’ve completely fallen for its charm, the history, the craftsmanship, the peaceful gardens, and the welcoming people. Becoming a guide has been such a rewarding part of this adventure. I love meeting people from all over the world and helping them experience the magic of Kanazawa, from its rich cultural traditions to its hidden corners and unique local flavors. Speaking of flavors, Kanazawa’s food scene is something I can’t get enough of! Whether it’s fresh seafood, delicate sweets, or cozy little cafés, I’m always excited to share my favorite spots. I also take pride in creating tours that feel personal and flexible, tailored to the interests and pace of each guest. Whether you’re looking for a deep dive into history, a relaxed city stroll, or a food-lovers’ adventure, I’m here to make sure your visit is exactly what you want it to be. When I’m not guiding, you’ll probably find me exploring new places around town, trying my hand at local crafts like pottery, or out in nature enjoying a hike with my family. For me, guiding is about so much more than showing you places, it’s about connection, discovery, and sharing the beauty of this incredible city that I’m lucky to call home. I can’t wait to meet you and create some wonderful memories together in Kanazawa!

After days of bustling sights and crowds, finding a peaceful moment to breathe becomes essential. Luckily, Kanazawa’s charm extends beyond the city and tranquility is never far away. On this half-day nature walk, we’ll escape the noise and reconnect with the quiet beauty of the countryside. Stroll along a serene canal, discover native Japanese flora, and visit hidden Zen temples that most tourists miss. We can enjoy a casual Tea-ceremony contemplating a traditional garden. The journey concludes with a visit to a museum honoring the first Zen philosopher to introduce his teachings to the Western world, a perfect ending to a day of quiet reflection and discovery.
We will meet at you accommodation or at the designated meeting point and start our walking tour from there. All places I chose on this itinerary are among my favorite spots in and Kanazawa and places that I discovered over the years. Here's what we'll do: -Take a bus to the outskirts of the city -Visit Eianji Temple, a secluded Zen temple -Go for a quiet 2,5 km walk along a nature surrounded footpath -Visit Tentokuin Temple, a very special Soto Zen temple with a rather romantic history -Visit the The D.T. Suzuki Museum, a peaceful place to reflect and find inner calm. -Visit Shofukaku Garden next to the museum, open only when the weather is nice. Our Tour ends in the city center, or at a place of your choice. Like all "ToursByLocals" experiences, this tour is 100% customizable. Whether you have specific interests, prefer a more relaxed pace, require private transportation, or want to focus on certain aspects of Kanazawa’s history and culture, I’m more than happy to tailor the tour to your preferences.
Tell your guide which places matter to you, skip what doesn't, and tailor the experience for your group's needs. Not finding what you want? Message your guide to build something unique.
