Hi everyone! I’m Lucy, and I’m excited to introduce myself. I’m originally from the south of France, and my journey has taken me through both France and Germany, where I worked in fashion and costume design before life led me to Japan. In 2019, my husband’s work brought us to Kanazawa, and it didn’t take long for this beautiful city to capture my heart. Since then, we’ve welcomed two wonderful children here, making our connection to Kanazawa even deeper. Over the years, I’ve completely fallen for its charm, the history, the craftsmanship, the peaceful gardens, and the welcoming people. Becoming a guide has been such a rewarding part of this adventure. I love meeting people from all over the world and helping them experience the magic of Kanazawa, from its rich cultural traditions to its hidden corners and unique local flavors. Speaking of flavors, Kanazawa’s food scene is something I can’t get enough of! Whether it’s fresh seafood, delicate sweets, or cozy little cafés, I’m always excited to share my favorite spots. I also take pride in creating tours that feel personal and flexible, tailored to the interests and pace of each guest. Whether you’re looking for a deep dive into history, a relaxed city stroll, or a food-lovers’ adventure, I’m here to make sure your visit is exactly what you want it to be. When I’m not guiding, you’ll probably find me exploring new places around town, trying my hand at local crafts like pottery, or out in nature enjoying a hike with my family. For me, guiding is about so much more than showing you places, it’s about connection, discovery, and sharing the beauty of this incredible city that I’m lucky to call home. I can’t wait to meet you and create some wonderful memories together in Kanazawa!

This tour combines two unique and beautiful destinations. First, we'll head to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Gokayama and visit the charming village of Ainokura. Just as stunning but less touristy than its bigger sister, Shirakawa-go, Ainokura is a picturesque village renowned for its traditional gassho-zukuri thatched-roof houses. Nestled in the mountains, it offers a glimpse into Japan’s rural past, with breathtaking scenery, rich cultural heritage, and local craftsmanship. In the afternoon, we'll return to the historic city of Kanazawa. Here, we'll explore one of Japan’s most beautiful gardens, stroll through the well-preserved Samurai district, and dive into the city’s unique local culture. Kanazawa and its surrounding countryside are not only where I call home but also my favorite place in Japan, a place I know like the back of my hand. I'd love to share my favorite spots with you!
After meeting at the Cruise ship terminal, we will leave the city by private car -Head to Ainokura, about 1 hour drive. -Visit of the village -On the way back or arriving at Kanazawa, we'll taste some local specialities for lunch -Visit Kenrokuen garden -Stroll around the former Samurai district -Visit a Samurai house If we have time left, we can visit the historical Teahouse districts where the Geishas perform, Oyama Shrine, the Catle park or the famous Omicho market. Let me know if you'd like to include a Sake tasting, Tea ceremony, Washi paper or gold-leaf workshop. Like all "ToursByLocals" experiences, this tour is 100% customizable. Whether you have specific interests or needs, I’d love to create a personalized and unforgettable experience for you!
