Hi everyone! I’m Lucy, and I’m excited to introduce myself. I’m originally from the south of France, and my journey has taken me through both France and Germany, where I worked in fashion and costume design before life led me to Japan. In 2019, my husband’s work brought us to Kanazawa, and it didn’t take long for this beautiful city to capture my heart. Since then, we’ve welcomed two wonderful children here, making our connection to Kanazawa even deeper. Over the years, I’ve completely fallen for its charm, the history, the craftsmanship, the peaceful gardens, and the welcoming people. Becoming a guide has been such a rewarding part of this adventure. I love meeting people from all over the world and helping them experience the magic of Kanazawa, from its rich cultural traditions to its hidden corners and unique local flavors. Speaking of flavors, Kanazawa’s food scene is something I can’t get enough of! Whether it’s fresh seafood, delicate sweets, or cozy little cafés, I’m always excited to share my favorite spots. I also take pride in creating tours that feel personal and flexible, tailored to the interests and pace of each guest. Whether you’re looking for a deep dive into history, a relaxed city stroll, or a food-lovers’ adventure, I’m here to make sure your visit is exactly what you want it to be. When I’m not guiding, you’ll probably find me exploring new places around town, trying my hand at local crafts like pottery, or out in nature enjoying a hike with my family. For me, guiding is about so much more than showing you places, it’s about connection, discovery, and sharing the beauty of this incredible city that I’m lucky to call home. I can’t wait to meet you and create some wonderful memories together in Kanazawa!

Kanazawa has never been attacked or destroyed in the past, making it one of Japan’s best-preserved Edo-period cities. Indeed, Kanazawa offers much to explore. In addition to its historical heritage districts, the city is best known for Kenrokuen Garden, one of Japan’s top three gardens, as well as its local crafts and delicious cuisine. On this tour, we’ll uncover the stories behind samurai and geisha traditions, dive into the city’s unique culinary scene, learn what it takes to design the perfect Japanese garden, and admire the high-quality local crafts. Having lived in Kanazawa for a long time, I know the city like the back of my hand. I’ll take you beyond the typical tourist spots, sharing local stories and insider tips. This tour is perfect for history lovers, foodies, and nature and culture enthusiasts alike!

If I could give Lucy unlimited stars I surely would. If you are fortunate and able to request Lucy as a guide, I promise you will not be disappointed. Lucy is fluent in English and several other languages. She is highly intelligent, lives in Kanazawa and knows both the history of the region and also of Japan. She is culturally astute and is not one of those guides who walks around with a notebook of facts so they can remember what to recite to you. She is fun and interesting to be with. We booked a walking tour for 7 hours and it was fantastic. Do not miss the opportunity if you are in Kanazawa to tour with Lucy.
Lucy was wonderful. She is very knowledgeable of Kanazawa, its culture and history. We started the day visiting few specific sites (family cemetery and family home). It was exactly what we wanted. The remainder of the day was going through the samurai and geisha districts. We would highly recommend Lucy. She was very pleasant and accommodating.
Lucy is among the very best tour guides we have ever had. She is very well informed about history, culture, religion and day to day living in Japan. She was a delight to spend time with. If we ever return to Kanazawa we will look her up and take her out to dinner!
We had a great time with Lucy! We visited all the interesting places without having to rush and with plenty of explanations! For lunch we enjoyed a typical meal at the marketplace. Thank you so much Lucy for showing us around this beautiful city!
