Yoji was great. Very flexible, knowledgeable, reliable and an excellent communicator. Many Japanese guides don't have great verbal English skills but this was not an issue at all with Yoji. Highly recommended!
We had a pleasant day with Yoji as our guide and driver to both Gokayama and Shirakawa-go which we believe we couldn't have gotten to in one day on public transport. We learned a lot of interesting things about current day Japan as well has learning a lot about these two heritage sites. It was great to get out into the countryside! Thanks Yoji! Note to other travellers: we were told in advance of the surcharge for renting a private vehicle and had happily agreed, but be warned, it is very expensive.

For 4 passengers, please note that the rear seating may feel quite cramped. For groups of 4 to 6 guests, a minivan will be arranged for a more comfortable experience. In this case, an additional fee of ¥20,000 (or USD 150) will be charged on the day of the tour to cover the rental cost.
