Buongiorno! I’m Lisa and my name comes from a very famous old song in Italy which my dad loved very much. I was born in Vicenza, near Venice, but raised in Siena, in the heart of Tuscany where I live with my husband, my son, my daughter and our dog. Siena has so much to offer both to those who come for the first time and to those who return. The town is an open-air history book, every corner telling us about the past. But it’s not a dull or static museum, though! Siena is full of life! Walking through the streets, you'll immediately understand that its charm comes from a combination of past and present coexisting. I studied here at the Università di Siena, I graduated as an Art Historian and a Teacher of Italian for foreigners. I started working as a teacher and I liked it very much, but I later became a guide of Siena after passing a qualifying exam and I discovered I liked that even more! So I have been working as a tour guide with guests from around the world for the last 25 years. I love creating tailor-made tours that allow you to discover the classic and most famous places of the town, but also a less known and (I hope surprising) Siena! I feel fortunate to do what I love the most: meeting people and sharing the beauty as well as the treasured art and culture of my country, and why not, the food too!

Discover the essence of Siena on an engaging tour, perfect for travellers seeking a deep, authentic introduction to the city. We'll wander past historic palaces, charming alleyways & picturesque viewpoints that reveal Siena’s unmistakable character. You'll have my full attention as I try to bring centuries of history to life, sharing stories of noble families, traditions & legends that only a local expert would know. As we admire the breathtaking Piazza del Campo, home of the famous Palio horse race, I'll provide commentary on its unique shell-shaped design. I'll also share insights into Siena’s rich cultural heritage, traditions & enduring rivalry with Florence. So get ready to stroll through cobblestone streets in one of Italy’s most enchanting medieval cities. Generally in museums & churches, the dress code for men & women requires shoulders & knees to be covered. Shorts & skirts are ok, but below the knees. Don't bring large items (large bags/backpacks/long umbrellas, etc) as they aren't allowed.
-After meeting by Via di Città street, we'll walk to the magnificent Piazza del Campo, where I'll tell you about the Palio competition and shed light on Siena’s medieval districts. -We'll later pass by the towering Palazzo Publico & the Torre del Mangia. -Next, we'll visit the magnificent Siena Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic art decorated with intricate marble, sculptures and vibrant frescoes. -We'll continue strolling along historic streets, coming across medieval palaces and stopping by panoramic viewpoints to take in the views over Siena and the Tuscan hills. -We'll finish our tour outside the Basilica of San Domenico, where I'll give you local tips and recommendations for the remainder of your time in Siena. The itinerary can be customized according to your needs and requests so contact me before booking if you'd like to make variations.
