Dear Traveller, Since when I was a teenager my true passion has been travelling abroad. As a child I used to live in Paris and therefore I've absorbed with no effort French language and culture, but I'm a native Florentine. That's the reason why I like so much people who invest time and economic resources in travelling to expand their mental horizons and meeting people from other part of the world. While completing my academic background I've spent one year in London and since then I never stopped travelling as tour menager in Egypt, Libia, Tunisia, Jordan, France, Etiopia, Turkey, Greece and United States. In 1992 I won the public contests to be Licensed Guide in Florence / Siena and I fell in love with my job, because being a guide is being myself: a lifetime studying and discovering. My guests say my special gift is to be able in sharing my passion for Art, Economic History and hidden Beauties of Siena and Florence, maximising their time during their stay. Let me introduce you to Florence and Siena unique harmony and flavour: their museums, Medici's residences, churches, home made ice creams and artisanal workshops, still able in creating true masterpieces. The tours I'm listing here are just samples, the ones that I think are eligible but, Since everyone of us is different, It will be my pleasure to fully customised the tour to your pace, interest and expectations, for a true VIP service. For Uffizi and Accademia museums I can book fast track tickets without handling fees as you will be able to pay those extras directly on the spot. *On request I can hire a private driver/luxury and air-conditioned van, the easiest way to travel from Florence to Siena and to discover their hidden beauties. *For Cruise visitors I can arrange "VIP treatment" shore excursions including a luxury air conditioned car or minivan with a professional driver (with pick up and drop off at your ship). Siena is a delightful little shrine of art, one of the best preserved and unspoilt towns in Italy. It fits like a pearl on the rose "shell" of the Campo Square. The city is rather small and its highlights can be seen in a 3 to 5 hour tour. We will enjoy a stroll in the endless labyrinth of winding narrow streets, soak up the evocative medieval atmosphere and marvel at the beautiful fan-shaped square "il Campo", lined with ancient palaces, cafès and shops. During our wandering we will also stop by the medieval palaces of the Sienese aristocracy and sample the delights of Ricciarelli or Panforte, mouthwatering almond paste cookies typical of Siena. Siena is also the best preserved Gothic medieval city in Italy, cradle of the Italian Gothic style and your local guide (me ;-) will be happy to share with you her passion for and attachment to the city she loves.
Emma was the loveliest of tour guides in Siena. We learned so much! She is so educated on everything you want to know, and even taught us some about Florence(we did not have a tour when we were there)! We chose her because the description seemed like she was highly educated, and she did not disappoint! Will recommend her to anyone we know traveling to Siena or Florence!
Emma took us on a private walking tour of Siena. She was very knowledgeable about culture of Siena as well as about history and art history too! Our tour was very informative and Emma was most friendly and engaging as she explained everything to us. We learned all about the contratas in Siena, as well as all about the Palio. She wound her way through narrow streets and pointed out interesting things all along the way. Our visit to the Duomo with Emma was outstanding. Would hire her as a guide again!
We enjoyed our tour of Siena with Emma. She is seasoned and can easily navigate crowds. While she was late due to a traffic issue, she hit the ground running and made up for lost time with her information and history.
Emma provided a great history of Siena. She had some visuals that made it easy to see/understand the 17 'city wards' of the city along with all aspects of the Palio. She showed us the major sites adding insight along with facts. Her discussion of the highlights of the Duomo were very helpful and interesting.
Emma was terriffic…..we not only got a great tour of Siena, but she expertly broadened our knowledge of Italy's fascinating and complex history. Emma had encyclopedic knowledge, that was simplified and put into context for our understanding, appreciation and enjoyment. We highly recommend Emma !
This was our second tour with Emma on out visit to Italy. The walking tour of Sienna was fabulous and we obtained a wonderful introduction to the history, culture, arts, and people of Sienna. We were quite pleased with this tour and highly recommend Emma as a tour guide. Her enthusiasm, passion, and deep understanding of the major cities in Italy was so enriching and we were engaged throughout the tour.
The tour includes: *Basilica of st Domenico, with its beautiful frescoes, to have an insight on the Medieval everyday's life and the fascinating story of a great Sienese woman, born a few yards away, a mystic who finally became patroness of Italy: St. Catherine of Siena. **Please note: no shorts and no bare shoulders allowed inside the churches Then we go through the heart of the city, to see *Piazza del Campo with its stunning Gaia Fountain *City Hall (Palazzo Pubblico, inside) and the world famous frescoes by Martini and Lorenzetti. These frescoes are a velively representation of what everyday life in Siena and its countryside used to be like in 1340. The result is a real time-machine that allows us to feel the local history vivid and alive! We would then wind through ancient alleys to the *Cathedral: a milestone of European gothic Architecture with world famous masterpieces by Michelangelo, Pinturicchio, Donatello, Bernini.
