Hello! My name is Armando, I am an expert of Italian art, history, archeology and culture, and I have been working as an official tour guide for over twenty-five years. I will start giving you a historical presentation from the foundation of Siena as a Roman colony, up to its growth in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance as one of the most important cities in Europe. We will visit together the religious and political centers of Siena, the most important museums of the city, where I will tell you about artists who led the evolution of the Western art. I am not going to give you a lecture - unless you want to - I will be informative but I won't overdo with too many dates and names, I will make your visit fun with anecdotes and legends, you will have time to enjoy a coffee or an ice cream: I know you are here on holiday and your holiday is meant to be enjoyable and fun!
Armando gave a wonderful tour of this beautiful city to our group of 4 people. This was our fourth tour with him this trip and each one was extremely informative and professional. He is very well informed and he imparts his knowledge in a delightful manner. We very much look forward to recommending him to our friends when they visit Italy.

Armando is extremely knowledgeable about many of the details of Italian and Tuscan and Roman history. It's a pleasure to listen to him explain the significance of certain works of art , architecture, and history. This particular tour was quite good, but, because of my interests, I would recommend skipping the horse race "museum". I would suggest spending more time in the cathedral or perhaps visiting the hospital museum, or the other basilica in Siena instead.
My wife and I had the pleasure of private touring the highlights of Siena for 3+ hours recently. Armando was extremely knowledgeable, kind and thoughtful. He was indispensable in helping to make the sights and history of Siena come alive for us. We really enjoyed the experience of a private tour vs that of a larger group tour, as we had many questions during the tour and didn't have to be concerned of monopolizing his time at the expense of others. You'll thoroughly enjoy touring with Armando!

Visit to: - Cathedral (inside; masterpiece of Medieval architecture, with decorations made by important Tuscan artists of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, including Donatello and Michelangelo) - Baptistery (inside; with it's famous Baptismal Font by Donatello, Ghiberti, Jacopo della Quercia . . . etc. ) - Crypt (inside; discovered in 1999 with well-preserved medieval frescoes) - Duomo Museum (inside, masterpieces of Medieval and Renaissance art) - Piazza del Campo (regarded as one of Europe's greatest medieval squares) - Palio-Horse Race Museum (inside, to learn about Siena's most famous traditional event). With me as your guide it will be easier for you to listen and follow the tour despite the everyday crowd, and I'll be happy to accommodate your requests by going faster through sites that don't interest you or stopping longer to see what's more relevant to you.
