Hi there, my name is Silvia and I live in a small cute village of the Chianti close to Siena. I am an outhorized city guide of Siena and Florence as well as an outhorized nature guide of Tuscany. I graduated in foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Siena, English and German. I am an energetic person who loves travel, nature, traditions and good food in Italy, expecially pasta and gelato. . . but not only! I am a mother, so don’t worry if you are a family with kids, I know how it is travelling with children and I will be happy to make the tour fun also for them. In the area where I live, a walk far from the crowds of town along the pilgrimage route of the via Francigena. Discover the beauty of the Tuscan countryside where the glory of its medieval past is still present with castles, villages and ruins. See the Tuscany you wouldn't want to miss, pass through forest and fields, vineyards and olive groves from Siena to the imposing towers of the fortress of Monteriggioni. If you like, in Monteriggioni you can have a tasting of good local wines. We will meet out of town at the start point of the trek, where you can arrive by car/taxi, and end in Monteriggioni. If you don't have your own car, you can than decide to take the train, bus or taxi back to Siena. On request I can arrange transportation.
Silvia is absolutely fantastic!!! She is extremely knowledgeable about the history and the geography of the area and is more than happy and willing to respond to all our random questions. The whole walk was just enormous fun! We will be doing another tour with Silvia and are very much looking forward to it.
The tour of San Gimignano was a last-minute arrangement due to bad weather. Sylvia suggested this alternative and it was well worth the visit. The town is a fascinating example of a Tuscan medieval walled town and also a stop on the Via Francigena pilgrimage route. Sylvia did an excellent job of describing the geography and history of the town and the significance of several of the buildings. She is very well informed, entertaining, and personable and a pleasure to have as a guide. Highly recommended
Silvia knows Tuscany & loves her home - & it shows nicely. We wanted a countryside walk & Silvia delivered so fantastically. Met at Montereggioni & then drove to a countryside tavern & parked. Had a snack of fresh Peccorino & Proscuitto. Walked picturesque countryside roads & paths passing Tuscan houses, farms, fields & castello as we climbed the gentle slopes. Hiked the famous Via Franccegania pilgrim's trail through woods, streams before reaching Montereggioni - 10 km later. Highest Recommendation !!!!!
