Hello! My name is Fabrizio, I am a Roman native but have been living in Tuscany for the past 25 years. Even though my original academic background is in business administration, I went back to University to learn about ancient history and am currently enrolled in post-graduate studies as an archaeologist. This has given me the chance to visit and learn about places and spots off the beaten track which I am happy to share in turn with my visitors, especially those requesting personalized tours. I have been working as a licensed tour guide for the past ten years now and I find particularly challenging and rewarding the idea of introducing foreign visitors to Italian culture and heritage under all its aspects: history, food, craftsmanship and other aspects which might intrigue the intelligent and discriminate traveler. I do speak fluent English as I spent considerable time in Canada as teenager, and am looking forward to guide you through exciting places such as Florence - the cradle of the Renaissance or Arezzo, a lesser known Tuscan city-of-art or "città d'arte". When I was 25 I lived for a period in beautiful Venice, as at the time I was serving in the army as a First Lieutenant of the Carabinieri (Military Police). During my free time from service I would often explore the city, a history book in my hand, in long solitary walks and that's how I fell in love with her. . . . when I in later years took up archaeology, I spent time digging in the lagoon on two different occasions, both being projects under the supervision of the Archaeology department of Venetian Ca' Foscari University. When taking my visitors on a tour I like to introduce them, if they so request to local eateries where they can have a taste of our selection of foods and wines in the same places where florentines and "aretini" go, carefully avoiding the "tourist-traps" which abound in places that heavily rely on tourists for their economic activity. I like this job because it gives me the chance to interact with people fron all over the world, from all walks of life, in a relaxed and positive atmosphere. I will be more than happy to consider personalized requests and itineraries if you so wish. I can arrange for you transportation with a licensed driver in order to explore areas of the Tuscan countryside without you needing to rent a car and drive in an unfamiliar area. I do have my own Alfa Romeo, but being a two-seater it is not the best choice to take more than one visitor riding! Undergraduate studies in "scienze per i beni culturali" UNISI - Università di Siena Currently attending post-graduate studies in "archeologia classica" or Classical Archaeology at UNIFI - Università di Firenze Licensed tour guide since 2010 none

Overview of your Siena tour

This tour is a basic walking tour through the city of Arezzo, a short 58 km drive or train ride from Firenze. Famed Italian poet Carducci wrote that Arezzo by herself was sufficient to make the whole of Italy proud of her past glory. This city and its surrounding countryside have been in fact home to incredible personalities of the past such as Gaius Cilnius Maecenas, Guido Monaco, Petrarch, Piero della Francesca, Michelangelo, and Giorgio Vasari among others. You will get a chance to visit the surviving house of a late-Renaissance intellectual and artist and visit one of the most meaningful paintings of art history. Different points of interest may be mixed and matched to fit your own personal interest and time-table, keeping in mind that Arezzo has been growing vigorously in the past few years as a favorite spot for international visitors, a good alternative to overcrowded Firenze or Pisa. Wine-tasting and aperitivo breaks if you so wish will make this tour particularly appealing.

Fabrizio's walking tour presented the highlights of the ancient city of Arezzo, Italy in just a few hours. It is a small city, but very charming, and very close to both Firenze and Rome. I recommend his tour highly!

Fabrizio did an excellent job showing us Arezzo. We had never been there but learned how old the city is and its history. We especially enjoyed seeing the old fortress and walking along the wall. The walk through the city took us to various areas including the main square and many of the important churches. He was pleasant, knowledgeable and his English was excellent.
