Hi, I'm Marta an official local guide of Campania Region since 2014. I was born and I live in Salerno, a town in Southern Italy, close to the Amalfi Coast. I'm graduated in Foreign Languages (Arabic, Portuguese and English) and I have a Master Degree in History of Art and Cultural Heritage. I worked in Spain for two years with an Italian Tour Operator. I was selling package holidays to Spanish agencies. In 2014, I took my Tour Guide Licence, because I wanted to change direction with my career as a Tour guide. I started part-time working at the Botanical Garden of Salerno and teaching junior and secondary aged students in Orienteering, an outdoor sport. During this period, the Garden Tours Department asked me to take visitors on two hours tours of Salerno, which lead on to self-organised tours around the historical sites of Campania Region. Today, I do tours around the region, in particular, tours of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Amalfi, Ravello and Paestum. My tours are comprehensive, funny and are designed to inform you about the people, culture and history of this wonderful land. I aim to grab the interest of visitors, deepening the understanding of local history, using the anecdotal history alongside the classical facts. I love showing people Ancient Roman History and teaching them all the little stories I learned during my personal studies. Pompeii and Herculaneum archaeological sites, under the active Volcano Mount Vesuvius, show how ancient Roman villages were at the time of Emperor Tito. They have important differences, that's why it is recommended visiting both. Pompeii offers a complete overview of an ancient Roman town plan. All the public buildings, the streets and the houses are now unearthed. The particular burial dynamic of Herculaneum has allowed the preservation of organic materials, such as the hulls of a boat recovered on the beach, foods, wood elements and the upper floors of the buildings. I create this tour so it appeal to old and new travelers. Families love my outgoing personality and the ability to keep children entertained throughout the duration of the tour.

Thank you for the input you sent them. The delay has nothing to do with your services or knowledge of Pompeii which were both excellent and outstanding. Marta was amazing. She skipped the line to group tickets and we were in. We wanted fast paced to see as much as we could. We also let her know our interests. She kept us going by moving away from the other crowds. Her knowledge was amazing. She was able to answer all of our questions. Both Pompeii and Herculaneum were amazing and easily seen without a lot of rush. I would definitely recommend her. Her English is a little broken if that is an issue for you.
For the Pompeii and Herculaneum Tour, Marta was an awesome guide. She and her driver met us at the cruise port in Naples and sped us to Pompeii. She led us in the back entrance just as the site opened, so we were by ourselves for a few minutes. Marta told us wonderful background information. Then, she took us to an authentic Naples pizzeria prior to our Herculaneum visit. Marta did a great job of showing us the differences between the two sites and recent findings.
Marta was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. We had a wonderful lunch with her. She made it a very enjoyable day. I use a cane and have some mobility issues. She was was very considerate and made things easy for me. We would definitely recommend her to everyone, and will book with her again if we make it back to Naples.
