In some points of the heart of the city it is still possible to see the ruins of the ancient Greek walls, that were part of the ramparts, built in order to defend the ancient city. One of the "decumano" is via Tribunali, still nowadays one of the liveliest streets of Naples; the other famous street is Spaccanapoli, called in this way by the local population and I will tell you why. In one of the squares of the city center, Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, you will raise your eyes to admire the high obelisk that is just in the middle of the square and I will show you one of the most ancient pastry shops still existing there! I will guide you through the fascinating alleys of the historic city center, you will be able to discover some of the most beautiful churches, the courtyard of the ancient noble palaces, and the famous street San Gregorio Armeno where some local artisans still produce the traditional Christmas Crib. You will smell the typical culinary art products, from pizza to sfogliatella and babà!
Some highlights you'll have in the tour are: Caffe Gambrinus Palazzo Reale (outside) Piazza del Plebiscito Galleria Umberto I San Carlo Theatre (outside) Via Toledo Spaccanapoli Piazza San Domenico Maggiore Church Gesù Nuovo Church Santa Chiara San Gregorio Armeno Maschio Angioino (outside) Note: the itinerary can be customized according to your needs and requests In the museums, in the archaeological sites and in general in all the churches dress code for both men and women requires shoulders and knees to be covered. Shorts and skirts are fine, but below knees. Do not bring large items (e. g. large bags, backpacks, long umbrellas…) on tour because they are not permitted.
