Hi, I'm Dario, a licensed local guide in Naples with 10 years of experience and a background as tour manager on cruise ships across the Mediterranean. You only get one shot at this trip. I make sure you don't spend it wandering around without understanding what you're looking at, or stuck with a guide who barely speaks your language. Beyond what's required for the license, I've spent years studying the history, art and archaeology of this area on my own, because I don't want to just recite dates, I want to actually understand what we're looking at, and help you understand it too. If you're arriving by cruise, I build the day around your ship's schedule, with private pick-up and drop-off, so you're back on board on time, guaranteed. And you're always in direct contact with me, not an agency. A stranger once stopped me while I was working and asked, "Are you a tour guide?" I said yes. He replied, "Remember that all the travellers will see your land through your eyes." That's still my job: not reciting dates, but making you feel the 3,000 years of history behind Naples, so it becomes the part of the trip you'll talk about for years. About me: degree in Economics, background in luxury hotels, tour operators and cruise lines, which took me across most of the Mediterranean and many European capitals. I lived in the UK for a year and in South America for several years. I speak fluent English and Spanish, both C2 certified. I am not a driver. I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Not so far from Naples there is a large area named “Burning Fields” (Campi Flegrei). These beautiful and mysterious place have a complex natural scenery. Among extinct craters, lakes, woods, coast and sea the humans lived since the night of times. Cuma was the first colony of the Great Greek founded on the continent. In this area the Greek and Roman civilizations merged, and we can say that this event started the occidental civilization. Baia and Pozzuoli were preferred by the Romans for the climate, hot springs and soil fertility. During the empire the Romans built there luxurious villas, amphitheatres and thermal baths whose ruins are still visible. Much later in the XVIII century famous European poets, artists and intellectuals such as Mozart and Goethe visited this area searching for the glory of this past. Like them you can follow the same route and be seduced and fascinated by the beauty of these mythical and legendary places.
Pick up in Naples agreed with the guide. Drive with a private transportation and driver as far as the Archaeological Park of Cuma. Visit of the ruins. Then drive as far as Bacoli to visit the Mirabilis pool. Break for lunch in a typical restaurant. Then drive as far as Pozzuoli to visit the Flavio amphitheatre basement and then the ancient Roman market. Return to Naples and drop off in a point agreed with the guide.
