Thank you for taking the time to visit my ToursByLocals profile. My name is Mario, and I am a licensed driver-guide, official tour leader, and proud Neapolitan, born into a family that has been working in tourism for three generations. For me, guiding is not simply a profession. It is part of my family story, my personal identity, and my lifelong passion. Since I was a child, I grew up surrounded by travelers, drivers, guides, hotels, ports, train stations, archaeological sites, and stories from people coming from every corner of the world. Tourism has always been part of my daily life, and over the years it naturally became my vocation. What makes my tours different is the combination of local roots, academic background, and real field experience. I studied Conservation of Cultural Heritage with a specialization in Archaeology, followed by advanced studies in Greek and Roman History. Later, I also completed a second degree in Tourism Economics, which helped me better understand not only the cultural value of travel, but also the expectations, needs, and emotions of international visitors. This double perspective — archaeological and historical knowledge on one side, hospitality and tourism management on the other — allows me to create tours that are not only informative, but also smooth, personal, well organized, and deeply memorable. Naples, Pompeii, Herculaneum, the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Ravello, Capri, and the entire Campania region are not places I simply show to visitors. They are part of my life. I know their history, their beauty, their contradictions, their flavors, their hidden corners, and their human soul. When you travel with me, you are not just booking a guide or standard sightseeing tour. You are choosing a local expert who can connect ancient history, archaeology, landscape, food, traditions, and everyday life into one seamless experience. At the same time, my tours are never academic, heavy, or boring. I love history, but I believe it should be shared with passion, humor, and a human touch. My goal is to make you learn without feeling like you are in a classroom: you will discover fascinating stories, local legends, archaeological details, and cultural insights, but always in a relaxed, enjoyable, and entertaining way. I like to create the right balance between knowledge and fun, because the best tours are the ones where you understand more, laugh often, feel comfortable, and truly enjoy the day. Why travel with me? Local expertise from three generations Born and raised in Naples, I offer an authentic insider’s perspective that goes far beyond a guidebook or a standard itinerary. Strong academic background My studies in Archaeology, Conservation of Cultural Heritage, Greek and Roman History, and Tourism Economics allow me to explain the sites with depth, clarity, and passion. A real passion for history Pompeii, Herculaneum, Naples, and the Amalfi Coast are not just destinations. They are living stories, and I love bringing them to life in a way that is engaging, human, and easy to understand. Tailor-made experiences Every traveler is different. I carefully design private tours around your interests, rhythm, expectations, and travel style. Comfort, timing, and flexibility As a licensed professional driver-guide and tour leader, I combine cultural knowledge with excellent logistics, comfortable transportation, and the flexibility that only a private tour can offer. A complete Campania experience From the archaeological wonders of Pompeii and Herculaneum to the elegance of Ravello, the beauty of Positano and Sorrento, the energy of Naples, and the magic of Capri, I can help you discover the very best of this extraordinary region. My goal is simple: to make you feel welcomed, cared for, and genuinely connected to the places you visit. I want you to leave Campania not only with beautiful photos, but with stories, emotions, flavors, and memories that will stay with you long after your trip is over. Feel free to contact me and share your ideas. Whether you are looking for a classic day trip, a cultural experience, a family-friendly tour, a shore excursion, or a multi-day itinerary, I will be happy to create something special for you. I look forward to welcoming you to Naples and showing you my land with the pride, knowledge, and passion of someone who truly belongs to it. Are you in Rome and you want to visit Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast? YOU CAN DO THAT IN A SINGLE DAY, arriving directly to Naples train station. In fact, the cheapest and fastest way to get around Naples is definitely the train: by car, it takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes, while the train takes 1 hours and 10 minutes. There is a fast train from Rome to Naples almost every hour and you can buy your ticket online. I'll meet you on arrival track at "NAPOLI CENTRALE" station, ready to begin our tour. If you stay in Rome, this option is really the best way to see both, Pompeii and the Amalfi coast. You have the opportunity to see: 1) the most important archaeological site in the world, Pompeii, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO; 2) the natural beauties of Sorrento coast and Amalfi coast, known for picturesque seaside towns along the Mediterranean with stops in the main places s of interest (Sorrento and Positano or Ravello and Amalfi).
•Taking the train at 7:30 am from Rome, you'll arrive in Naples at 8:45 am, in just 1 hour and 10 minutes. You'll find me at the beginning of the platform. •At the beginning of the tour, we will make the arrangement for the itinerary, in order to avoid hours where the places are very crowded. •We could go first to Pompeii, then to the Amalfi Coast (Positano) and later to Sorrento, or choose a different order. •I'll lead you all along the coast by showing you Sorrento, Positano and then Pompeii, where your visit will take approx. 2 hours. •We'll be back to Naples at 17:30, to safely take the train at 18:00 to Rome.
