Discover and enjoy the authentic Puglia. Welcome in Puglia (or Apulia): the sunny and windy "heel of the Italian boot". We are Italy's easternmost region, right in the middle of the Mediterranean sea with culture and traditions that are the results of several different dominations, cultural and economic influences. First of all I'm a traveler (for leisure and work) and I like to discover foreign countries and their culture, traditions, food, people, etc. I have been working in tourism since 1998 as travel designer, event organizer, licensed tourist guide, nature (hike and bike) and interpretive guide, tour leader, food and wine lover (olive oil taster, wine sommelier). I'm passionate about my region and I like to share our amazing attractions and culture with other people. Puglia is an "easy region": the weather is quite warm all year long (the best time to come is from March to November but it's worth to come also in winter time), people is friendly (… but only a few people speaks English or another foreign language), there are always lots of events and things to do and our Mediterranean diet is healthy and tasty for everybody (amazing choice of tasty meat, fish, pasta, rice, legumes, vegetables and fruit recipes). Travelers who come for the first time in Puglia usually are fascinated by the Puglian daylight and the colours of the seaside and the countryside. I'll share with you the soul of Puglia, its culture, traditions, flavors, nature, scent, vibes . . . If you're looking for an hyper detailed and boring visit I'm not the tour guide for you but if you like a friendly and easy going person who will make his best, thanks to his experience and empathy, to understand and satisfy your needs, to suggest the right choices matching with your interests, to introduce in our culture and traditions, to help you in spending a very nice time … then contact me. I'm a licensed tour guide, nature (hike and bike) guide, environmental educator; wine sommelier, certified olive oil taster, tour leader. Education and training: University degree with experimental final essay (with photographic appendix) in Geography about Apulian rural buildings (masseria, villa, trullo); Master in Tourism Economics and Management; Professional training courses: tour guide, nature and interpretive guide, environmental educator, bike guide, bicycle mechanic, BLSD (Basic Life Support Defibrillation), inclusive and accessible tourism; Cooking, wine and extra virgin olive oil tasting classes; Workshop about recognition of Apulian wild orchids; Photography's workshop about show and Entertainment, nature. PLEASE WRITE ME BEFORE BOOKING (this way we will be sure the tour will match perfectly your needs in terms of price, service included, date, start time, duration, etc.). THIS WAY IS EASIER AND FASTER FOR YOU AND ME.

Bari, like the biggest part of Puglia, is the result of several Mediterranean civilizations starting from the Bronze Age. I've spent more than 20 years working as tour guide and sommelier and I'll be happy to share with you the different perspectives of the intriguing capital of this region. We will enjoy street food tastings and gourmet culinary experiences, discover labyrinthine alleyways in the old town, archeological layers showing millenniums of history, the maestry of the ladies making orecchiette pasta on the street at the entrance of their homes like in the past. Visit the early Christian church with astonishing mosaic; imposing Apulian Romanesque basilica welcoming two religions (the Roman Catholic and the Orthodox one); ancient castle and fortification walls; fishermen tenderizing and selling the octopus at the old port; the French district (the "new" town built during the Napoleon domination by Joachim Murat) with a grid plan, liberty style architecture, theatres, shopping streets.

Our guide Alessandro gave us an excellent, personal tour of the old city of Bari. From the impressive Basilica of St Nicholas to the charming narrow streets of the orecchiette pasta ladies he provided a non stop commentary with insights into the present and ancient aspects of the city. His historical knowledge was impressive. Of particular interest was our museum tour of the depths of the ancient city many feet below the existing street level. The stop for artesanal gelato was tasty and refreshing, and dairy free too! Overall a great tour, and much better than the large group tours we have taken in the past.
Very professional, terrific tour, great communication
We had a wonderful time with Alessandro in Bari and the region. He is knowledgable, passionate and interesting. Highly recommend this tour and we would choose Alessandro for other tours in Puglia as well.
Alessandro's tour of Bari was terrific. He has so much interesting information to share and knows the city extremely well. Our tour was the perfect combination of history, culture and delicious local food. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning with Alessandro and would recommend this tour without reservation.
Alessandro is an amazing tour guide. He is very knowledgeable and took us straight to the most beautiful places in each area we visited. He is very patient and accommodates every need we had along the tour. I highly recommend traveling with him.
- Petruzzelli and Margherita theatre (exterior); - sea promedade with the old port and the small fish market (untill midday); - Piazza Mercantile and Ferrarese; - walking on the fortification walls; - Basilica of S. Nicholas; - Cathedral of S. Sabino; - Lovers' square; - Swabian castle (exterior); - street with orecchiette pasta's ladies (we can make orecchiette with them or we can have a lunch in their home); - French district with the shopping streets and liberty style palaces (Fizzarotti, Mincuzzi). During the walking tour we can enjoy food and wine tastings: street food (the focaccia barese at a bakery, an artesanal gelato, a sandwich with grilled octopus, the "sporcamuss" pastry, the deepfried panzerotti, sgagliozze and popizze); a wine, extra virgin olive oil, typical food (cheese, charcutterie) tasting at a grocery, a bistrot or a wine shop; served lunch at a trattoria or a fine restaurant. We can personalize the tour with a visit to the picture gallery, some archeological, religious or civic museum
