Full Day Shore Excursion from Bari to Matera and Altamura

Matera preserves a great heritage of culture and traditions, As European Capital of Culture 2019 It host prestigious exhibitions of great interest. We will walk through this modern city of Baroque churches and graceful palaces. The first glimpse of the sassi stops you in your tracks, looking down at the dramatic tangle of grey stone houses; a contrast with the elegance of the new town. Walking down a steep staircase we plunged into the magical world that doesn't quite feel real. I consider the city of Matera unique. A place where ancient traditions are combined with the testimonies of a peasant and archaic city, which make us reflect on the evolution of life in this land. The most beautiful thing, however, are the colors of a hard and wild nature, which blend with the historic districts of a city halfway between past and future. Altamura's main landmark is the Romanesque Cathedral, started in 1232 by Frederick II and restored in 1330 and 1521-47. In Altamura we will visit also an ancient bakery.
