Discover and enjoy the authentic Puglia. Welcome in Puglia (or Apulia): the sunny and windy "heel of the Italian boot". We are Italy's easternmost region, right in the middle of the Mediterranean sea with culture and traditions that are the results of several different dominations, cultural and economic influences. First of all I'm a traveler (for leisure and work) and I like to discover foreign countries and their culture, traditions, food, people, etc. I have been working in tourism since 1998 as travel designer, event organizer, licensed tourist guide, nature (hike and bike) and interpretive guide, tour leader, food and wine lover (olive oil taster, wine sommelier). I'm passionate about my region and I like to share our amazing attractions and culture with other people. Puglia is an "easy region": the weather is quite warm all year long (the best time to come is from March to November but it's worth to come also in winter time), people is friendly (… but only a few people speaks English or another foreign language), there are always lots of events and things to do and our Mediterranean diet is healthy and tasty for everybody (amazing choice of tasty meat, fish, pasta, rice, legumes, vegetables and fruit recipes). Travelers who come for the first time in Puglia usually are fascinated by the Puglian daylight and the colours of the seaside and the countryside. I'll share with you the soul of Puglia, its culture, traditions, flavors, nature, scent, vibes . . . A cultural and tasty tour immersed in the stunning beauty of Valle d'Itria! Martina Franca (the elegant city of the opera festival with its baroque architecture), the charming Locotorondo (listed as one of the most beautiful Italian village), the fabulous Alberobello with its trulli (a unique kind of ancient corbelled dry stone conical roof dwellings). An informal yummy cooking class to learn the secrets to make panzerotti (deep fried calzone stuffed with mozzarella, tomatoes, etc. ) loved by children and adults. I've got a long standing experience as licensed tour guide, wine and olive olive oil sommelier: the right mix to enjoy, in the best way, this amazing cultural and foodie tour.
This tour was a highlight of our trip! Both towns of Locotorondo and Alborello were so charming and Alessandro was so knowledgeable of the area and the personal touch of having a private and flexible tour was so nice. Alessandro is a delightful guide, flexible, extremely friendly, and with a deep knowledge of Puglia. He created the perfect day in the Itria Valley for us, a combination of sights we had requested, and also food and wine tasting. What a wonderful day we had with Alessandro. His knowledge of the region, and it's food is impeccable. We especially enjoyed the tour of the cheese factory with cheese taking, and the tour and tasting of the olive oil factory. Alessandro increased our understanding and appreciation immensely. He was very considerate to deliver us to our next accommodation and attentive that we were safely there before he left us.
- Guided visit to discover the baroque city center of Martina Franca: basilica, the ducal palace with its rooms adorned with frescoes, the legend of St. Martin's cloak and the beggar and some funny anecdotes. - In Alberobello we will visit the two old districts (Aia Piccola and Monti) declared, in 1996, world heritage site by Unesco. - We will visit the interior of some of the 1500 trulli located in the village to learn about their history, legends, architecture, the mystery and symbolism of their pinnacles (finials). - Panzerotti cooking class with final tasting of panzerotti and local delicacies. - In Locorotondo we will admire its terrific round skyline and its winding streets with withewashed houses with triangular dry stone roofs. If you like we can also enjoy: - An extra virgin olive oil tasting to learn how to recognize an excellent one and how to pair with food. - A wine tasting up on the terraces of a panoramic vineyard located on the slopes of Locorotondo with stunning view on the valley.
