Welcome to Agra, my hometown and the home of the Taj Mahal! Agra is famous throughout the world for the Taj Mahal, but there is much more to this historic city than its most famous monument. On this private 6-hour experience, I will take you to two of Agra's most important Mughal landmarks-the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort-while also giving you an opportunity to experience the city beyond the usual tourist route. What makes this tour different? The Taj Mahal We begin with the magnificent Taj Mahal, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Discover the magnificent Agra Fort Step inside the impressive Mughal fortress and learn about the emperors, palaces, courtyards and events that shaped Agra's history. Experience Local Agra Depending on your interests and available time, we can also spend part of the experience away from the major monuments. We may explore a traditional local market, see everyday life in Agra, discover local crafts or stop for genuine local food.
Atiq and I had a very interesting tour of the Taj Mahal and Agra Castle, we ate at a local restaurant and he explained the history of the place to us in detail. He knows his place very well! He also took a lot of pictures for us in uncrowded spots!
Atiq is an official Agra guide and was superb. He is so knowledgeable and made our visit so special, taking us to places to take the best photos without the crowds! His enthusiasm for the local sites is so contagious and we were given a fabulous tour of the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Atiq knew it was our 25th anniversary and on arrival provided my wife with a bouquet of roses and us both with a flower garland to wear. He also had a photo of us at the TM developed and framed by the end of the tour! Magic!!

Traditional Marble Inlay - approx. 30 minutes optional Discover the craftsmanship behind the decorative art seen inside the Taj Mahal and learn how this traditional Agra craft is made. Agra Fort - approx. 1.5 hours Explore the magnificent Mughal fortress and learn about the emperors, royal life and events that shaped Agra's history. Local Lunch - optional If you would like, I can take you to a genuine local restaurant to experience Indian food. Agra Local Market - approx. 1 hour Finish by exploring a traditional market and experiencing local life, crafts, spices and everyday Agra. Return to the hotel and finish the tour. This is a private and customizable experience. The exact order and duration of stops may change depending on your interests and the schedule.
